The Onboard Monitoring Box (OMB) is a passive acqui-sition and monitoring hardware device, developed by ERTMS Solutions. With a non-disruptive approach, it col-lects the messages exchanged between various ERTMS OBU sub-systems (for instance between the EVC, JRU and STMs) and transfers this information to a configurable ap-plication software.

Infrabel: a success storyWithin its EM20x maintenance vehicles, Infrabel installed three Onboard Monitoring Boxes, to provide real-time monitoring of telegrams read at ETCS / TBL-1 tags. The acquired data are transmitted in real time, via a Wi-Fi/GSM data network, to a central server managed by Infra-bel. Infrabel’s objective for the next future is equipping a serie of commercial vehicles with the same device, to obtain a higher coverage of the railway network, ensur-ing a more efficient maintenance service.
