I’ve been asked by many families how they can help provide a toy for a needy child to open this season. Our PTO has made providing a toy for one of our students, or a needy student in St. Johns County, easier than ever. Boxes will be set up at both schools starting Monday December 2 nd to collect toys that are brought into school. However, we also have set up an Amazon wish list for parents who find this option more convenient. Simply click on the link in the wave, pick out and pay for a toy, and the packages will be delivered here to PVPV/Rawlings. Our PTO will deliver these toys to students here at our school as well as needy students at our local Title 1 schools who otherwise might not be getting a toy this Christmas. I have personally spoken to Randy Kelly, the principal at Southwoods Elementary school in Hastings, who tells me he has well over 200 students whose Christmas could be brightened by one of these gifts. Cherish the time with your loved ones this week. Thank you all. Sincerely, Dr. Gates

“There is always, always, something to be thankful for.” -unknownAs we head into Thanksgiving break, I cannot help but

reflect on how thankful I am to serve this school and community. Every day, I am reminded and awed by the amazing students, families, and faculty here at PVPV/Rawlings. Just this month, our students and families have volunteered and cheered on Veterans during the Carry Forward 5k, have collected countless canned and packaged goods to donate to Farm Share, and have provided Thanksgiving feasts for local families who otherwise would have gone without one this holiday season. This really is a special place because of you all. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I’m so looking forward to making memories with my family and enjoying precious time with my loved ones. I hope you all will do the same.

Of course, after we stuff ourselves silly on Thursday, we begin the hectic holiday shopping season. I’ve been asked by many families how they can help provide a toy for a needy child to open this season. Our PTO has made providing a toy for one of our students, or a needy student in St. Johns County, easier than ever. Boxes will be set up at both schools starting Monday December 2nd

to collect toys that are brought into school. However, we also have set up an Amazon wish list for parents who find this option more convenient.
