Energy SavingEnergy Saving

Energy Saved is Energy Generated. Saving of Energy is the need of the day. Government is one of the major consumer of

Energy. The Govt. has to lead others by taking

effective steps to save the energy

Page 3: PWD Presentation

Energy SavingEnergy Saving

278 million units of energy per annum are consumed by Maharashtra State Government Office Buildings

This is equal to 105 MW Generation during working hours under the assumption of 10 hours /day, 22 days /month, 12 months /year.

One unit saved is TWO units generated. Annually Rs.111 crores are spent by the

Government on energy bill .

Page 4: PWD Presentation

Energy SavingEnergy Saving

Energy Efficient Lamps and Equipments can save energy bill up to 30 %.

100/60/40 watts bulbs can be replaced by CFL lamps of 22/11/9 watts having power factor more than 0.9.

40/36W Fluo. fittings can be replaced by 28W E+/T5 fluo. fittings or their chokes by electronic chokes.

Four pillars of successful Four pillars of successful Energy Management : Energy Management : Key Key ElementsElements

Successful energy management programme needs the total support of senior management.

The other important requirements are A well-charted strategy plan. An effective monitoring system. Adequate technical ability for analyzing and implementing energy

saving options.

In any organization, which does not already possess an energy efficient ethics, good communication downwards from senior officials will be vital first step.

Active participation & planning for the energy management
