The JRE deployed with PT-X Drive is version 1.7.

Note: If the Jar is run directly with an alternative JRE it must be with a version 1.7.x or above.

The software must have access to the PT-X hosted URL over the internet. The default URL is https://uk.pt-x.com but please check beforehand.

PT-X User Login

In order for PT-X Drive to upload files directly into the software, it needs to be linked using a user login for PT-X. You can use a user that is already set up, or you can use a separate login for PT-X that only uploads files. If you would like a separate user for this process please contact us to arrange this.

Setting up PT-X Drive

Step 1

To install PT-X Drive, please choose the network location where the drive will run from permanently. We recommend that PT-X Drive is installed on a server or PC that runs continuously so that files are uploaded on a regular basis.

Normal usage is to either double click the batch file ‘ptx-drive.bat’ (or ptx-drive-32bit.bat as required) or from a command prompt navigate to the PT-X Drive install directory and execute the batch file.

Step 2

On first run, you will be prompted for the following information:

1) The PT-X URL, if you hit return, PT-X drive will automatically select the default URL for PT-X (https://uk.pt-x.com), if your URL is different please specify it here instead:

2) The user’s email address from PT-X, this is the user address that PT-X drive will use to authenticate with the PT-X system. The user will need permission to view every Payment Profile in PT-X:

3) PT-X password, this is the password set up by the PT-X user for the software itself, if you close the software and run it again you will be prompted for this password each time:

Step 3

Once running PT-X Drive will store the URL and email address in a locally created ‘settings.xml’ file, it will then contact PT-X and create a folder in the deployment for each PT-X Drive enabled Payment profile available to the user account.

Each folder will be given the name of the associated profile, the folders will be stored in the location where you ran PT-X drive from and will look similar to the below:

Uploading filesTo upload a file it should be copied into the directory for the target Payment profile. The file will then be uploaded to PT-X via the user account that Drive is using to authenticate.

If you use Accounting software to generate Payment or Direct Debit files, that software may be able to output files to the folders that were just set up directly. If you would like assistance setting this up we advise contacting your software supplier who will be able to assist.

Once the file is uploaded it will be placed into a subdirectory named ‘Uploaded’ and your payment data will then be available within PT-X! When you log in to PT-X directly the file will be available on the ‘All payments’ screen on the homepage.

Maintaining PT-X DriveIf you're using PT-X Drive, you'll also see a tray icon. This indicates that PT-X Drive is running and allows you to temporarily disable or exit the program.
