Bowls Notes
It’s That Time Again: “The time has come,” the Walrus said! With Mid-week Pennant commencing on Wednesday 5th October and Saturday Pennant commencing on October 8th, it is only fitting that we start to get into some early form. Practice will officially start Thursday 1st September. Yes, that’s right! Note the change of night from Tuesday to Thursday as the nominated night for practice sessions. The greens will also be available for Tuesday (and other times) as well, but we are trialling the change to Thursday as the main practice session. At this stage starting time will be 4:30pm. You might also note the delayed start to Midweek Pennant on the calendar year. In previous years we have kicked off in September but this season we don’t start until October and have a later finishing date in February. Being an eternal optimist, can I suggest to those who book summer time holidays that you may want to check dates before booking your hols as Pennant finals for Midweek run later than previously scheduled. Our Midweek Division 1 team actually score a bye in the first round, but Division 2 will host Leitchville. The Division 1 Saturday Pennant team faces Kerang in an away match first up, while Division 3 will contest against Kerang White. – also away. Bowls Information Booklets: Booklets, with nice bright orange covers, are now available for all members. There are a few items of pertinent information that folk should familiarise themselves with – in particular, the data included inside the front and back covers. Please ensure you peruse the contents of the book before storing it in a safe place. Tournaments: The season is beginning to hot up with a few tournaments being conducted around the area. They are a good way to dust off the cobwebs before we get into the serious stuff. If you are able to attend at any time, please let our Tourna-ment Secretaries, Jan and Lionel know of your availability. Memberships: Players are asked to forward their memberships to Lionel as soon as possible. Membership fees remain as they were last year ($100). Board Meeting: The next meeting of the Board will be held on Wednesday, 7th
September at 7:30pm. Working Bee: Watch this space to see when a Working Bee will be called to get the place spruced up prior to our first games. In the meantime there are some seats and poles which need some coats of paint so, if you are able to splash a bit of paint around, please contact Marie N to see what needs to be done.

Fiesta Cooking Meeting
7.00pm on Wednesday
31st August
Leanne Talbot would like to meet with anyone who is interested in helping prepare food for the Fiesta. There are many different jobs from preparing Filipino dishes/sweets or preparing spring rolls, cheesecakes and other sweets. On the day we hope to have three teams working for the different courses: afternoon savouries; main course and sweets, which should allow everyone to enjoy the fiesta more. If you are able to help in any way, please feel free to come along to the meeting in the staffroom, or give your name to June at the College and we can allocate jobs/teams for the day.

LVNL Grand Final Netball
Timetable Mitchell Park, Pyramid Hill
Saturday 10th September
Spectators Code of Conduct The Loddon Valley Football Netball League is encouraging all Clubs to be mindful of their conduct both on and off the court, particularly during this exciting time of the year - the finals. All players and parents were given a 'Code of Conduct' at the beginning of the season. In addition to this code, the following requirements must be met in regard to a spectator's conduct: 1. Most players (in particular children) participate in netball activities for fun. They are not participating for entertainment of spectators only.
2. Applaud good performance and efforts by all players. When watching a game congratulate both teams upon their performance regardless of the game's outcome. 3. Respect the umpires' and coaches decisions. If there is a disagreement, follow the appropriate procedure in order to question the decision and teach children to do likewise. 4. Never ridicule or scold a player for making a mistake during a competi-tion. Positive comments are motiva-tional. 5. Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by administrators, coaches, players, umpires or parents/guardians. 6. Show respect for your team's coach, the umpire and opponents. Without them there would be no game. 7. Encourage players to play according to the rules and the official decisions, and develop your own knowledge of the rules. 8. Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language, and not harassing administrators, coaches, players or umpires. 9. Support the use of age appropriate development activities and modified rules. (Netball Victoria)

Results The ‘do or die’ Elimination Final had us leaving Inglewood with mixed feelings as the season ended abruptly for our 18’s, in what was a season that was filled with so much promise! Our Senior’s took to the ground with nothing to lose, they showed endeavour, determination and were playing as a united force as they quickly put a halt to Marong’s finals campaign.
Under 18s Gutted - would be the one word used to describe the mood in the change-rooms after our Elimination Final loss to Inglewood. The boys played some fantastic football throughout the year and showed that they could match it with the big boys but unfortunately we just couldn't put it together when it counted. It was a tight affair for the duration of the game as Inglewood led by around one goal for the day. We took the lead early in the last quarter and with another quick goal found ourselves 9 points ahead but the last quarter dragged out and Inglewood regained the lead and ultimately led by 6 points when the final siren sounded. Final Score: Inglewood 5.12.42 def Pyramid Hill 5.6.36 Goal Kickers: X Ryan 2, J Ryan 1, B Pickersgill1, J Francis 1 Best Players: Brad Peters Award: B O’Toole, Millers Ag Award: A Friedberger, Coffee Bank Award: B Goodwin, Pyramid Bakery Café Award: K Shelley, Special Award: A Hudson, Others: X Ryan, J Francis, G James, J Ryan
Special thanks to Fitzy for the passion and commitment that he has brought to his 18’s coaching role this year. An outstanding job Nathan! Thanks also to ‘Fitzy’s team’for their dedication to the 18’s – Mark Ryan (Runner), Bruce Moon (Team Manager), Raidan Forster (Waterboy) and to the many others who have supported the team (trainers, umpires, waterboys, timekeepers, committee, parents). A big thank you to our 18’s club sponsors who have been very generous throughout the year. To those senior players who have assisted with running water or just being there each Saturday; thanks for taking an interest, the 18’s have really appreciated your support. Finally thanks to all players and parents, we have loved having you on board and we hope to see you back at PHFNC in 2017!
Seniors We had our doubters, we were the underdogs, no-one tipped us, but that didn’t worry the boys as they entered the field for our massive clash with Marong. We knew the game was going to be tight and we knew if we brought our best footy then we would be big chance of winning. We flew out of the blocks and led by 26 points at the first change against the breeze, however we let the Panthers back into the game and took a slender 2 goal lead into half time. After the break the heavens opened and the game became a good old scrappy, wet weather footy encounter. Throughout the year, at times, when challenged, we have fallen over and surrendered our leads, but not this time, not with our season on the line. The boys dug deep and not only won the game but put an exclamation mark on the victory kicking 5 goals to 2 in the final term to run out 45 point winners and book a spot in the 1st Semi Final to take on Calivil United.

M Stewart, M Bateman We didn’t come away unscathed from our win and we hope that Mick O’Neill, MC, Dyl Tonks and Mick Dundon are up and on the road to recovery real quickly. Come along and listen to the broadcast of the LVFNL Vote Count on 29th August at the Victoria Hotel, Pyramid Hill at 6:30 pm. Finger food to be provided $10 per person. Names to Garry Wishart. Make sure you have September 17th marked on your calendar and turn up at Mitchell Park for the annual vote count/presentation night. Families a salad please. Starting at 4pm for Auskick and Net Set Go! This week we head to Mitiamo on Sunday to take on arch rivals Calivil Utd in the First Semi Final. Let’s all turn out in force to support our boys and show the great ‘Doggie’ spirit! Let’s move through to the Preliminary Final! Go Doggies!
