Winch MountingMount the supplied Hawse Fairlead tothe Mounting Frame (not included) usingsupplied Bolts and Nuts.

The winch MUST be properly secured toa winch mount bumper or an approvedwinch mount plate with the included10mm nuts and bolts (qty 4/each).

There are machined pockets at each ofthe four inside base corners that fit aflange head whiz nut. Place a nut intoeach pocket and center the winch overthe mounting base holes. Tip: a touch ofbearing grease can hold the 4 nuts in

place prior to fastening the flange headwhiz bolts. In some rare mounting situa-tions drilling for bolt holes may be re-quired. Using a 15mm socket, thread thefour 10mm x 1.5 x 35mm bolts throughthe bottom of the winch mount plate orbumper and into the whiz nuts.

Use a torque wrench and 10mm socketand torque each mounting bolt to 50Ft-lbs.

Synthetic Winch Line Pre-TensioningThe winch line must be pre-tensionedprior to use. Do NOT use winch line with-out pre-tensioning it.

First, place clutch in Free Spool positionand slowly pull all of the winch line fromthe drum. Remove the line fastener at thedrum using a 4mm allen key at the drumand remove the line.

Thread the winch line through the fair-lead and re-attach the line to the winchdrum. You now need to pre-stretch winchline to ensure even stretching. To stretchwinch line, begin with 5 or 6 snug wrapsaround the drum and set up a secure

Battery cables SHOULD NOT be drawn taut. Leave slack for somecable movement. The battery cables SHOULD BE secure, out ofthe way of moving parts, road debris, or any possibility of beingdamaged by operation or maintenance of vehicle. For example, the battery cables may be routed under the vehicle, attachingthem to the frame using suitable fasteners such as cable ties(not included).

DO NOT attach Battery Cables to the exhaust system, drive shaft, emergency brake cable, fuel line, or any other components whichmay cause damage to the battery cables through heat or motion,or create a fire hazard. If a hole is drilled through the bumper orany other part of the vehicle, make sure to install a rubber grom-met (not included) in the hole to prevent fraying of the batterycables at that point. The use of at least a 650 Cold Cranking Amps(CCA) battery is highly recommended.

anchor point. Pull vehicle (in neutralgear) with the winch up a slight flat in-cline. See your glovebox sized “Self-Re-covery Winch Operator’s Guide” toproperly set up this pull with full under-standing of all safety precautions. To fullystretch the winch line, you will needabout 500 lbs. of tension on the cable dur-ing the operation. Once you have com-pleted the pull, be sure to rewind cable in

tight rows not allowing upper rows to in-tertwine with lower rows. Review Oper-ator’s Guide for this extremely importantprocedure.Attach the Winch Hook to SyntheticWinch Line: Attach as shown using theincluded cotter pin through the clevis pin.Spread the cotter pin ends to secure thehook. Be sure to keep the safety latchclean and lubricated at all times.

NOTE: Our Patent Pending removableClutch Handle doubles as a “key” thatcan be temporarily removed to deterwinch line theft, vandalism andpranksters.

Once the Clutch Handle is removed, itcan be stored in the vehicles glove box orconsole and used only when winching.

Clutch handle removal is optional.

Rotate Clutch Handle to the “FREESPOOL” position to reveal the set screwthat holds the handle in place. Using a 2.5MM Allen wrench, back out the set screwuntil the Clutch Handle lifts off but donot remove the handle at this time.

Rotate the clutch selector to the “EN-GAGED” position. You may remove theClutch Handle now and keep it in a safeplace. We suggest keeping the ClutchHandle somewhere in the vehicle,

Note: If the handle is not present whenwinching is needed, a standard 3/8” drivesocket wrench extension can be used torotate the clutch selector mechanism.

Do not keep the clutch handle on thewinch unless the set screw if fullyengaged to secure the handle in place.

Battery Requirements:Our powerful serieswound motors andclass-leading low gear

ratios give fast line speeds with a “Bat-tery Friendly” low current draw that willget the most winching time from yourbattery's available charge state. A fullycharged battery and good connectionsare essential to the proper operation of

your winch. The minimum requirementfor a 12 volt automotive DC battery is 650Cold Cranking Amps. Ask yourQuadratec sales representative for detailsabout heavy-duty batteries and terminalsfor your vehicle.

General Maintenance:All moving parts within the winch havebeen lubricated at the factory using hightemperature lithium grease. No internallubrication is required. Check battery ca-bles and electrical connections at regular3 month intervals to be certain they areclean and tight at all connection points.Inspect winch line before & after eachwinching operation.

Winch Care and Cleaning:Do not direct very high-pressure water atyour winch. Use low-pressure (normal)car wash soap and water to clean yourwinch. With the remote control discon-nected and the protective boots covering

the remote control socket and power but-ton sockets, wash normally with your ve-hicle. During winter exposure to roadsalt, wash the winch as soon as possibleto avoid corrosion. Always wash per therecommendations above.
