Q3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
The job of a media institution is to distribute the magazine. When choosing what media institution to distribute my magazine I felt
it was important to research in to the business. Firstly to ensure they are established and trustworthy company's whom have a good reputation for distributing popular brands amongst the media but also that they
have an established customer base, and an audience who will be interested in my magazine.
With that in my mind I chose to research into Bauer and IPC as my magazine will be new when it goes into the market and they both desire
the qualities Miss Pop would want from a media institution.
The target audience for my magazine is predominantly young female girls, who will desire a reasonably price magazine. One
which will be easy to pick up therefore it will be important that the magazine is stocked in a range of local newsagents but also well known large supermarket stores and shops such as WHSmith.
Also Miss Pop will be available online, as I feel that the demand for online magazine will soon rise as the popularity of
social networking and the power of internet is widely and quickly spreading.
BAUER MEDIA
Bauer is a multi-platform UK Based media group, therefore there is potentially for Miss Pop to expand
into other areas such as Radio and TV, following Smash hits as they moved their media format to
radio.Bauer media has over 300 magazines in 16 countries.
It is well known for distributing the ‘worlds best selling weekly music magazine :Kerrang’.
IPC MEDIA
IPC media produces over 60 brands, for example NME, Country Life, Look and What's on TV.
As NME is such a popular music magazine, feel that my magazine would be able to fit in although s different genre the potential audience is there.
However as there is no pop magazine, this could mean the IPC lack the necessary experience to be able
to distribute Miss Pop effectively.
BAUER Vs IPC
I Choose to distribute my magazine MISS Pop with due to the fact that they have such vast range of magazines, and
are all ready known for distributing the worlds best weekly music magazine.
Miss Pop fits in great
As I mentioned before about the internet I also feel to get the most out of my magazine target audience. An app for the magazine would be important, this would allow the magazine to reach wider audience base. On the App could included extras and interactive quizzes about music artists etc. All extras like this will allow the brand to expand. This will allow the reader to diverse form day to day to life and .
