5. How did you attract the audience/address the audience? To attract my intended audience age group, I carried out a survey for various different age limits as part of my audience research and found that the majority of people whom preferred Indie music were from 17-22, which is the age limit I was intending for.

From my feedback, I was told that my image was professional and suitable for a cover. I simply followed the conventions of existing material by learning the skills how to edit on Photoshop and then applying that to my own.

In order to attract my audience and connect them with my magazine straight away, I decided to emphasise the masthead making it bold and one of the largest feature on this page. This would attract the audience because it allows them to connect with what brand they are buying and how much it is. The masthead has to be easily recognisable and easily seen

My intention target audience is people whom generally enjoy Indie music. To achieve this, I carefully chose my costume for my model. The jumper being plain links nicely with the background, but also presents the clothes my intended target audience would most likely wear. This would conclude in my audience finding my magazine cover alluring and relatable.

5. How did you attract the audience/address the audience? For further detail based around this question, I asked my family members about why this front cover attracts them and why would they choose to buy this if they saw it in a shop.

My mum said that she likes the running, constant theme throughout the cover and how everything links well together because it gives it a structure to follow through. The consistency makes it more sophisticated and easier to read as a cover. She would also buy this because she likes the colour scheme because its using simple contrasting colours to attract the eye.

My dad however , said that he likes the masthead. He said that the masthead to him stands out the most across this page and that it jumps out at him when he looks at it and that the masthead is easily recognisable. He likes the colours as they are both gender approved, however thinks that it is more appropriate for women because of the young model on the cover.

My sister stated that she really thinks the cover is effective through the use of colour, texts and the photograph. She would buy this magazine happily because it easily grabs her eye and is also based around a young artist which makes it easier to pick up and want to read. She also stated that it was a good price for a magazine and that she would happily pay that price.

5. How did you attract the audience/address the audience?

I decided to add in several features of my magazine onto the contents page, from my audience research, it came to light that the majority of people preferred information and a variety of photographs across a magazine. As you can see, I have produced a load of information about what's featuring inside the magazine and a wide selection of images across the page too, which will help gain the audiences interest.

I wanted to address my audience by making sure that I stuck to the genre Indie, to successfully engage I had to make my magazine more relatable for the intended audience. I dressed my models in particular clothing to suit the genre. I also edited the pictures of the concert to have a Indie style.

My intended audience age groups would range from 16-25. From this, I decided I would add significant information, as these ages are much more independent and interested as to finding out more information about something they are attracted too. I included a website link at the bottom so that my audience could find out more issues of the magazine.

I incorporated 4+ different images onto my magazine as people from my survey said that they preferred having loads of images. My images consist of different people, women and male at concerts as well as soloists.

5. How did you attract the audience/address the audience?

Again I did audience research based on the question above.

My mum said that she likes the fact that the page is covered in photographs as it makes her more intrigued to read on. She really liked the range of photographs as well because it shows that the magazine isn't gender biased and it is for any gender She also stated that it follows the consistency of colour, theme, fonts through as it makes it professional and easier to read through.

My dad said that what attracts him with regards to the contents page is the colours of the images. With regards to the audience research I did a while ago, my dad was one of the people that rated lots of photographs which make a magazine interesting. He also is attracted to the use of a cursor symbol as it shows that the magazine is also online and in store, which will therefore attract a wider internet audience aswell.

My sister said that what she finds attractive with this contents page is all the text down the side and how it doesn’t reveal too much information about what's inside but enough to want her to read on.

5. How did you attract the audience/address the audience? The colour theme is consistent throughout all of my designs. This was to keep the audience interested and continue to read on.With regards to this DPS, the colour scheme works well and attracts the audience because it shows a variety of colours and doesn’t specify any specific gender.

I decided to place my model towards the right hand side of my DPS, I made sure he giving some form of emotion to engage the reader to the story. I believe this will engage the audience more into reading about his article as you would fell more involved and interested about his musical career and life.

From researching and looking at various current magazine DPS some of the most popular magazines in which I took inspiration from had different layouts in different issues. I was inspired to create this DPS as I had seen and analysed a similar one whilst doing my magazine research. To fit in with the criteria of addressing the audience, I wanted to include images and text which would be successful within gaining attraction from my target audience.

With regards to audience research, I asked my mum what she was attracted to across this double page spread. She stated that she likes how the text and photograph of the artist are separate (the text on one side and the artists on the other because it allows her to connect more with the article as she knows who its about due to the photograph. She also said that when she read the article, she liked the fact that it was interview based and about him at the same time because it was more interesting to read as oppose to just having an interview.

My dad said that he liked the background photograph because its different to a typical magazine. It helps the double page look more interesting not only to look at but to read as well.

My sister likes the layout of the DPS and how the text stands out from the background it gives it more depth and makes you focus more on the text than the photographs themselves.
