Q6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Hardware

For my music magazine I have used two different DSLR cameras in two different locations. The Cameras that I used to take the images have different aperture settings and overall different depths of fields which give the photos that I have used for my music magazine different aesthetics for the pages that they have been featured on.

The camera we used was a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex), it was a Nikon D3100 i messed with the aperture and the shutter speed. To take the pictures for my music magazine I using a 1/300th shutter speed and a f11 aperture that matched well with the amount of light that was in the studio and also it matched well with the lights that I used and was not over exposed. The lower the aperture setting the higher the depth of field is in the photo and the more balanced the photo looks.

For the second camera that I used to take the photos for my music magazine I used a Cannon 750D with a 18-55mm stabilization lens with automatic aperture setting and I also used natural lighting outside to give the images more of an authentic candid feel like to make the audience fell like the photo was taken on a street somewhere. This matches to the overall aesthetic of my music magazine and makes it seem more life like.

The SD card I have used in the Nikon D3100 camera was a fast class 12 SanDisk extreme plus with a much more than needed 32gb of storage.

Horseshoe Flash Trigger

I used a Horseshoe Flash Trigger. An infra red signal is sent to the strobe lights that triggers has been set to flash in-sync with the camera shutter speed that I have set on the camera. This makes sure the flash is synchronized with the flash on the camera and all the other lights.(Speed set to 1/300th sec to match the strobe speed)

Hemisphere 300 – strobe flash

For the strobe lights that I have used I have used a Hemisphere 300 that were triggered by the horseshoe flashThe strobe has a dial on back of the flash adjusts the flash output modeling light on. The light is an auxiliary lights set to slave (triggered in-sync with by built in light sensor)

Backdrop

The backdrop is lit with a further two strobe lights on full power to create a high exposure, white background.This means that when the photo is being edited it is easier to determine the background from the main focus of the photo. The strobe lights that I have used I have set them to full power to create a really strong definition of the white background so it is easy determine the difference between the background and the focus f the image when the image is imported into Photoshop and is edited.

PhotoshopI have used Photoshop editing package to compose my music magazine cover and contents page.

I have done this by inserting images that I have taken on a digital SLR camera and have then removed the background using a snipping tool. I have also created new layers over the image to the add aesthetically pleasing graphics that fit will the over all aesthetic of the page and also add text box layers to the page to create the over all content of the pages.

Word PressWordPress is a blog website that I have used to present the work that I have done e.g. the preliminary questions, the planning for my music magazine, the market research that I have done on music magazines, the finished music magazine that I have created and also the subject evaluation.

I have split my WordPress blog up into three pages Home, which show cases all of the prelim work that I have done before I created my finished music magazine, Evaluation, this represents all of the work that I did to create my music magazine and the equipment and techniques that I used, Finished Magazine, this showcases my finished product of my music magazine.

Google ChromeGoogle chrome is the web browser that I have used to do my market research, access my WordPress blog, upload my work that I have done (Finished magazine, evaluation and prelim questions) to my WordPress blog.I also have used Google Chrome as a source of inspiration for my music magazine and the content that has been used in it.

InDesign InDesign is the package that have used to create the article for my music magazine on a landscape A3 page.

I have done this by inserting images that I have taken on a digital SLR camera. I have also added aesthetically pleasing graphics that fit will the over all aesthetic of the page and also add text box’s to the page to create the over all content of the pages. I have also edited the manipulated the text in a way that the text will surround an image instead of moving underneath the image.
