Dear Parents,
We had excellent a1endance for the Parent Teacher Mee6ngs with around 90% of our parent community coming into the school to find out how their child is progressing. We con6nue to encourage you to keep an open dialogue with your child’s teachers so that together we can offer the best opportunity for your child to succeed with their educa6onal experiences at QAS.
This is a busy 6me of the year with students now firmly se1led into rou6nes and this is the 6me of year that we begin to see academic growth. You will also no6ce that there is a strong emphasis, within our school, in the development of student self control and appropriate decision making. As we develop our sense of community and take ownership of our school environment, these are two core approaches that help us think and func6on as a united school. Students thinking about the impact of the choices they make and the way they want to be viewed by others, helps them to develop an understanding about the kind of community they want to be a part of.
I look forward to seeing you and our lovely children at the PTA Interna6onal Day on the 5th Dec.
Best,
Mr. Harish Kanabar
Primary School Principal

In compliance with Prophet Muhammed peace upon him, Grade 1&2 students did the prayers request for rain, asking Allah for this blessing, May Allah accept all our prayers.
Pre4 want to find out who is in their community and what they do? As they examine the community surrounding them at school and at home they will
also be building an understanding of where they fit in their community, the roles they play, and their own responsibilities.
Be prepared for some independent 4 year olds, as they learn about the systems that help organise their communities and start to take over!
Grade 5 become scientists.
Grade 5 will light up our school in their next unit. As they explore how to make electrons flow, they will also experiment with the different forms of energy we use to make electricity.Join them as they debate the best source of energy for different countries. Town planners are relying on them to propose a source of energy to meet their electricity needs!!! What information do they need to know to choose a sustainable source that will match the environment of the town? How will they persuade the town planners that this is the best energy source for their town?
Grade 2’s next unit of inquiry takes them on an investigation into how public and virtual spaces can be used to establish a sense of community. What communities do our children belong to? What
makes us join these communities? How do we use public and virtual spaces to create a sense of belonging and connect with others? What public spaces and resources do you use?
Join Grade 2 as they create a virtual community!
What to expect!

In order to encourage students to read in Arabic, the Arabic department launched an Arabic reading fun programme. As part of a PYP Grade 2 unit, students started an ac6vity by researching about different stories they liked. The Grade 2 students then wrote their own simple stories. Each student shared their story with parents and then they presented their story in class .

House Teams have once again started up amongst the grade 4 and 5 classes! This was a great success last year and we hope to build on that enthusiasm this year. The House Teams promote community among students from different classes and teach them the skills of healthy competition and sportsmanship. The students are really excited and are currently meeting once a week to work on their banner design and cheer!
