From the GM’s Desk Colleagues, Yet another year has gone as we approach Christmas and New Year. It’s been a year of ups and downs given the continuing market conditions and competitor pressure in all sectors of the business. I would like to thank all of you for your continued efforts and support of the management team and again emphasize that your commitment and input keeps MSS Security as a leading provider in the market- place. It was disappointing to be advised this week that the United Voice has again appealed the approval of the current new agreement. The United Voices latest application has been made with the Federal Court of Australia on the same ground contested previously. It is being claimed by the United Voice that the Agreement does not pass the Better off Overall test (BOOT) despite the provisions relied upon being in the Security Services Award. The United Voice appears to be seeking for the agreement to be over- turned and therefore reducing your wages by nearly 2% to the rates contained in the Security Services Industry Award. MSS Security will contest the United Voice’s attempt to strike out the agreement and keep current conditions safe. On a brighter note, I would like to wish all of you and your families all the best for Christmas and a safe New Year. Colleagues,

    Yet another year has gone as we approach Christmas and New Year. It’s been a year of ups and downs given the continuing market conditions and competitor pressure in all sectors of the business.

    I would like to thank all of you for your continued efforts and support of the management team and again emphasize that your commitment and input keeps MSS Security as a leading provider in the market-place.

The United Voice appears to be seeking for the agreement to be over-turned and therefore reducing your wages by nearly 2% to the rates contained in the Security Services Industry Award. MSS Security will contest the United Voice’s attempt to strike out the agreement and keep current conditions safe.

    On a brighter note, I would like to wish all of you and your families all the best for Christmas and a safe New Year. Best Regards,

    Nick Samios

    Are you injured in the workplace?

    MSS Security is committed to ensuring that best practice injury manage-ment procedures are followed. As part of the injury management process, rehabilitation will be com-menced as soon as possible post injury and in a manner consistent with medical judgement. If you are injured at work and present to a doctor; the doctor will pro-vide you with a work cover certificate. Once you have this certificate, you will have to Lodge a Work cover claim. The claim forms can also be found under Section 8 of the Red HSE folder on every worksite. Once the claim form is completed, you can lodge it directly to Workcover Qld via the link;

    https://ols.workcoverqld.com.au/ols/public/claim/lodgement.wc or MSS Security can lodge on your behalf with you returning the claim form to the HSE department.

    Are you injured in the workplace continued….. Note:- if you have a work cover certificate – it does NOT automatically mean your claim has been accepted straight away. Workcover have up to 20 working days to accept/deny a claim lodgement. This timeline is longer for Psychological claims. It will not be unusual for this period to be extended if MSS Security are in-vestigating a workplace injury or workcover are gathering more information in relation to the decision process. If you are off work for this time and unable to work, you will not have wag-es coming in until the claim is approved. If you have sick leave/annual leave available, you are able to access this until such time the claim is approved, then your leave entitlements are reimbursed to you and then any lost wages are paid through work cover. If no leave entitlements are available MSS Security are unable to assist with any wages until your claim is approved/denied. Please be aware under the work cover system wages through workcover are paid at 85% of your average earnings for any time you are unable to work. If you are given suitable duties certificates by your doctor, then wages are paid as normal. You will begin suitable duties as soon as possible and you will be provided with a Suitable Duties Plan for you to adhere to the restrictions noted on your certificate by your doctor. Under the Workers Compensation Act workers have an obligation to participate in Rehabilita-tion. Failure to do so may result in your claim being suspended/warnings provided by workcover.

    If you have any questions in relation to your workcover claim do not hesitate to contact the HSE department,

    your Manager or Operations who can answer any queries you may have .

    On October 31 our client Big W held a charity golf day in Warwick with all funds raised being donated to the Children’s Hospital Foundation. MSS sponsored a hole and sent a team along to support our client at this annual event. Needless to say MSS did not set any course records finishing one over off the stick.

    MSS Security’s Christmas Gift in 2015

    This year in keeping with MSS Security’s Workplace Giving program and the spirit of Christmas, the QLD business has decided to give to those in need in lieu of distributing small Christmas gifts to sites. MSS Security QLD and Strategic Medical and Res-cue will be making a donation of $1500 to the Big Issue and $1500 to Black Dog Institute. Through our donations, MSS Security and it’s em-ployees will be making a difference to the lives of homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people and enabling people in our community to live mental-ly healthier lives .

    We wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous year in 2016.
