QMI Security Shutter Operation

Closing/Securing the Window Shutters

Insert the shutter pole hook into the hole in the base/bottom slat of the rollup up window shutters just far enough so the “V” in the hook rests in the hole.

Be careful not to insert the hook too far into the base slat hole as the hook could contact the horizontal mullions and cause damage.

Slowly, pull down the curtain far enough to grab with your hands. While holding onto the curtain, remove the pole. While staying near the center of the shutter, push the curtain down to the knee wall or the floor. Move to one side of the shutter, and slide the lock bar outward into the side rails as far as it will go. Repeat on the other side of the shutter.

If your shutter has small brass thumb screws, loosen the screw, slide the bolt into the side rail, and then re-tighten the brass thumb screw to keep the slide bolt in place.

Closing/Securing the Entry Door Shutter

The last shutter closed will be the entrance shutter. Using the shutter pole, bring the shutter down to head level. Walk under the shutter and out the front door.

Holding the door open, put the key into the base slat lock. Push the shutter down to the ground using the angle piece on the base slat. WHILE PUSHING DOWN turn the key to activate the lock bars sideways into the rails.

(note: floor mats pushed under the shutter may cause the shutter not to lower enough for the lock to engage. Ensure the floor mat is not underneath the shutter’s bottom slat)

Remove the key. Close and lock the entrance door.

Opening the Entry Door Shutter

Open the main entry door, exposing the lock at the bottom of the shutter. While pushing down on the base slat angles, unlock the shutter, and raise the curtain high enough to walk underneath.

Remove the key. When inside the store, carefully push the shutter up toward the box. (there is an assist spring working to help pull the curtain upwards) If the shutter stops before it is all the way up, use the pole to gently push the curtain up.

Opening the Window Shutters

At each of the window shutters, slide the lock bars toward the center of the curtain as far as they will go on both sides.

If your shutter has small brass thumb screws, loosen the screw, slide the bolt toward the center, and then re-tighten the brass thumb screw to keep the slide bolt in place.

Move to the center of the shutter and slowly lift up the shutter curtain.

If the shutter stops before it is all the way up, use the pole to gently push the curtain up.
