Summary of 2008 Changes
• No new disease areas
• 8 domains have been updatedAsthma, AF, CKD, COPD, Depression, Pall Care, Smoking, Stroke/Tia
• 58.5 QOF points reallocated to reward patient satisfaction with access
• In some areas the guidance has changed, not the indicator
Points removed
• Hollistic care, speaking to clinicians, access a receptionist, openning hours, induction training, sterilisation, job adverts, fraud prevention, injectable neuroleptics, patient survey
SOPHIEs
• Changes not confirmed until middle of QOF year!!
• SOPHIEs not up to date
Asthma
• RCP 3 questions to be used as part of the asthma review process– Difficulty sleeping?– Symptoms during the day?– Interfered with usual activities?
• Effective from December 1st 2008
Atrial Fibrillation
• % diagnosed after 1/4/08 with ECG or specialist
• Confirmation within 3/12 of diagnosis.
CKD
• ACEi or ARB for those with hypertension AND proteinuria.
COPD
Diagnosis after 1/4/08 by post bronchodilator spirometry
Depression
• New guidance
• Questions should be asked as part of a consultation (ie not posted)
Palliative Care
• Now irrespective of age
Meetings restructured recently
Mental Health
• No indicator change
• Guidance updated– Face to face– Physical review– Care plan
Stroke/TIA
• Refer for further Ix within 1/12 of diagnosis
• Or up to 3/12 before the diagnosis was entered
Previously 12/12
Smoking
• Current – every year
• Ex-smokers – 3 consecutive QOF years
• Non smokers – yearly to 26
