INDIVIDUAL ONLINE

You have two tools that the University provides you
to create individual online presentations:
1. Adobe Breeze Presenter
Adobe Presenter allows PC users to record
audio over PowerPoint Presentations. Not
all Online courses provide Adobe Breeze Presenter.
Your Instructor will notify you if this option is available
for your use.

Option 1: PowerPoint Narration
There are several choices for you to make before creating
a group presentation for your online course. We
recommend creating it with PowerPoint and using the
built-in Record Narration Tool.
1. We recommend that the group designate a group leader. The group leader will receive all PowerPoint slides and will merge the slides together.
2. Each group member needs to have PowerPoint. Each member of the group needs to create a PowerPoint Presentation and record audio using the built in “Record Narration” tool within PowerPoint.
PowerPoint 2003 Users: Record Narration in PowerPoint 2003
PowerPoint 2007/2010 Users:
Record Narration in PowerPoint 2007
3. Once you finished recording the slides send the PowerPoint presentation to the group leader.
4. Group Leader – Open a new PowerPoint presentation, copy and paste the slides from the PowerPoint presentations your group members sent you into the new presentation.
Watch video: How to copy PowerPoint slides from one presentation to another
5. Finally, upload the PowerPoint file to your Online Course and instruct your class that they must start a slide show.
4
Option 2: Voice Thread
Voice Thread will allow for you to collaborate with
group members. Each member needs to
add their content and record comments
using a webcam, telephone, microphone or text.
Please note at this time Voice Thread is not available
for all courses. Your Instructor will indicate if
Voice Thread is available for your group.

CREATING ONLINE GROUP PRESENTATIONS
You may be asked to create a Group Presentation for an online course. There are a variety of
tools that you can use to create group presentations. Please review Option 1 and 2 below.
Q: What do I need to
create a video or
audio presentation?
A: Webcam &
Microphone
When composing a discussion question or
completing an assignment for your online course,
work locally in a word processing program until you
have completed the draft. Once you are ready to
post your response or submit your assignment, save
a copy of your work on your computer. Once you
have saved a copy of your work, copy and paste
your response or upload the assignment to the
appropriate place in your online course.
We also recommend backing up your computer on
a weekly basis using an external hard drive. It is
important to keep an external back-up of your work
should your computer crash. While a flash drive is a
useful tool for backing up documents or storing
work for class, it can be misplaced because of its
size and it does not have the capacity of an external
hard drive.

SUPPORT & A FEW MORE TIPS
We recommend having both Internet
Explorer & Firefox installed on your
computer, so that if for any reason IE is
not working you can try Firefox.
7
If you plan to be working on different computers while completing assignments, save your work to a flash drive, but also send a copy of your work to yourself via e-mail. Should you lose your flash drive or should you not return to the computer where you last worked, you will have a copy in your mailbox!
Backing up your online class documents is
one of the most important things to
remember when taking an online course.
When you are on the go we recommend
purchasing a USB Flash key or use
MyFilespace, page 3.
