Presentation Script

Projector: On the first slide is the posters for the three films I am focusing on.

Projector: The Area of Investigation is written on the next slide, along with listing my chosen films. Also listed is what topics I will cover in the presentation so the audience get an idea of what to expect from the presentation.

Presenter: I am investigating Miyazaki Hayao’s auteur style with specific references to his social views and political messages. My focus film is Princess Mononoke, my other two films are Howl’s Moving Castle and When Marnie Was There. I have chosen films that have strong messages and influences of the topics I’m covering and compare well to the different auteur styles. In this presentation I will be covering all three films and what messages they convey and how they are shown. I will be including context to help understand Miyazaki’s messages further. I will explain each film, their main messages and context for the time it was made. There will be a time at the end of the presentation for a discussion.

Projector: The next slide gives context to Miyazaki’s already standing political and social views.

Presenter: Miyazaki has very strong views on how he feels about society and politics and the world. Here I outline these messages that I will later develop in this presentation. He is very anti-war and tries to promote pacifism. He is very into saving the environment and has been proclaimed and feminist by fellow film maker Takahata Isao. Projector: The title of the slide is the first film, Princess Mononoke with the posters underneath with a bullet points of its main themes.
