Dear Coaches,

I would like to invite you and your teams to � e Palestra on Sunday, January 23rd for our 14th Annual, University of Pennsylvania Quaker Cheer Classic. Your participation made last year a huge success and we look forward to your team being a part of this year’s competition.

In this packet you will � nd the registration form, medical waiver, judging criteria, directions to � e Palestra as well as important competition day information. � is competition will be conducted in accordance with National Federation divisions and rules for high school and recreational team and USASF divisions and rules for all star teams. � is will be a SPRING FLOOR event for the All Star division. � e registration fee for each team will be $150.00 if postmarked by January1, 2011; $175 if a� er that date. Registration form and payments must be received by January 15th, 2011. Please make your check or money order payable to the “Penn Cheer.” We ask that all material be submitted as soon as possible to enable us to make the competition day as smooth as possible for all competitors.

Notes on divisions: Competition officials reserve the right to combine levels as needed. These decisions will be made to create a fair and balanced competition. Division changes should be made at least one week prior to the competition date. While we will do our best to accommodate each team, changes requested after this date are not guaranteed. There will be no changing division of the day of competition. All divisions and guidelines are subject to any changes set forth by NHFS and USASF guidelines.

Quaker Cheer Classic Division Guidelines

We will offer All Music Divisions for High School teams that do not perform traditional cheer routines. Please indicate this on your registration form.

Quaker Cheer Classic Medical and Liability WaiverFor good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, I _________________ as parent or legal Guardians of _______________________, a minor (hereinafter “minor”), hereby grant the permission necessary to allow Minor to participate in the above Event to be conducted by the University of Pennsylvania. I acknowledge and agree, in my own behalf and on be-half of the Minor, that such participation subjects Minor to the possibility of physical illness or injury (minimal, serious, catastrophic and/or death) and that I, in my own behalf and on behalf of the Minor, acknowledge that the Minor is assuming the risk of such illness or injury by participating in the Event. In the event of such illness or injury, I authorize the University of Pennsylvania to obtain necessary medical treatment for the Minor and hereby, in my own behalf and on the behalf of the Minor, release and hold harmless the University of Penn-sylvania, and its' respective directors, officers, representatives, members, agents, and employees, the hosting site and their respective affiliates (hereinafter collectively "Releases") in the exercise of this authority. I further acknowledge and understand that I will be responsi-ble for any and all medical and related bills that may be incurred on behalf of the Minor for any illness or injury that the Minor may sustain during the Event and while traveling to and from the site for the Event whether or not the Event actually occurs. I, in my own behalf and on behalf of the Minor, further agree to release and to hold harmless Releases from any and all liability for negligence or any other claim, judgment, loss, liability, cost and expenses (including, without limitations, attorney's fees and costs) arising out of or connected with the Event, including any claims arising out of or connected with any illness or injury that the Minor may incur or sustain during the Event, all activities associated with the Event and while traveling to and from the site for the Event whether or not the Event actually occurs.

I further expressly agree to indemnify and hold harmless Releases and Release's heirs, successors, assigns, executors and administrators against loss from any further claims, demands or actions that may subsequently be brought by Minor or by any other person or persons on account of damages of any character resulting to Minor in any way from the forgoing activities. I further agree to reim-burse and to make good to Releases any loss, damages or costs Releases may have to pay as result of any such action, claim or demand.

I represent that any medication to which Minor is allergic or is currently taking are listed below. I agree that Minor shall bring medications which Minor is currently taking with him/her to the Event and that he/she shall consume the prescribed dosage.

I, in my own behalf and on behalf of Minor, am aware that his Release and Waiver releases Releases from liability and contains an acknowledgment of my voluntary and knowing assumption of the risk of injury or illness. I, in my own behalf and on the behalf of Minor, further acknowledge that nothing in this Release and Waiver Constitutes a guar-antee that the Event will occur. I, in my own behalf and on behalf of Minor, have signed this document voluntarily and of my own free will.

Conduct and SportsmanshipAll squads are responsible for the conduct of members of their program including coaches, parents, fans and

participants. All attendees are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. Failure to do so may result in penalization of the squad and/or expulsion from the competition.

SafetyAbsolutely NO JEWLERY OR GLITTER

Temporary spirit tattoos will be permitted. Fingernails must be in accordance to National Federation Guidelines. Spotters will be provided. Squads are encouraged to perform skills within their ability level.

Time Limits and Routine StructureThe time will begin with the first official movement or voice, or the first note of music whichever comes first. The

music portion of your routine may not exceed 1-½ minutes for school divisions. Total routine length is limited to 2 ½ minutes. All performances must begin with each participant having at least one foot on the floor. Both feet leaving the floor constitute the beginning of the timed portion. If a routine is interrupted by equipment failure, the team

will be permitted to perform their routine from the point where the disruption occurred. In case of injury the team may continue with the routine or withdraw from the competition. Quaker Cheer Classic officials reserve the right to

halt a routine in the case of injury.

MusicMusic, movements, gestures and choreography are expected to be in good taste (No foul language etc.). Coaches

will be expected to start and stop their own music. There will be a one point per second penalty for every second a routine exceeds the time limits established.

Awards and JudgingThe number of teams in each division will determine trophies. Judges will be qualified and impartial individuals rep-resenting all facets and styles of the cheerleading realm. Decisions made by the judging panel are final and may not be appealed. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES is a participant, coach, parent, or fan permitted to question or approach a judge on a score sheet or legality decision. Any team violating a safety rule or regulation will receive a 10-point pre

violation deduction from their final score.

Vendors and Medical ServicesVarious vendors will be available throughout the day. Quaker Cheer Classic T-Shirts and programs will be available though out the day. Extensive concessions will be available throughout the venue. An athletic trainer and ambula-

tory staff will be available in case of emergency.

Competition Floor and Warm-up AreaCompetition and warm-up floors will be nine panels in size (54’ x 42’). Each team will be given a 3-minute warm-up

period prior to competing.

Payment and FeesWe will refund 75% of your entrance fees if cancellation notice is received by January 25, 2010. We will refund 50% of the fee after that date. The admission cost for spectators will be $10 per person. Children under 4 admitted free. All registration material and fees MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN January 21, 2010. Snow date will be determined.

Competition AgendaOfficials of the Quaker Cheer Classic will determine the order of competition. There will be two sessions. Start times will depend on the number of registered teams. Order of competition and warm-up times will be provided approxi-

mately one week prior to competition. The Quaker Cheer Classic reserves the right to combine divisions.

General LiabilityCheerleaders will not be permitted to participate unless a medical waiver has been filled out. Quake Cheer Classic

officials and entities are not responsible for personal items that may be lost or stolen. The University of Pennsylvania is not responsible for any injury to participants. Participants assume all risk and responsibility.
