Principal’s Message …..

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

STAFF UPDATE Mrs Dickerson will be on leave from 31 Aug

until the end of term. Mrs Partington will be

teaching the RFF program during this time. Mr Thompson will be on leave from Monday

31 August until Tuesday 15 September and will be replaced by Mr Hanes.

QHEPSFest QHEPSfest is a short film festival to be held

on 4 Sept from 6-7:30pm. Students and teachers have been developing iMovies based

on the theme of “Light”. This has been a great opportunity for children to collaborate

and use their creativity in a new and

interesting format. We will showcase the work of groups of children in years 3-6 and

class entries from K-2 in a range of classrooms and then showcase the finalists in

the hall. More specific details will follow later

in the newsletter. Everyone is invited to come along and view these masterpieces!

LONGNECK LAGOON LEADERSHIP DAY

We had a fabulous day at Longneck Lagoon yesterday! Semester 2 SRC students, the

sports Vice Captains and a group of Year 5

students attended the leadership day and faced many fun and challenging group

activities. Thank you to Mr Ross and Mrs Reid for organising a very worthwhile day.

KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS 2016 Enrolment forms are now available for

children starting Kindergarten in 2016. Please come in and pick up an enrolment form from

the office at your earliest convenience.

BOOK WEEK 24 – 28 AUGUST

Book Week is celebrated every year and this year marks the 70th Anniversary of Book

Week. It is being held from 24 to 28 August and the theme this year is “Books Light Up Our World”. To celebrate Book Week at

QHEPS Mrs Curnow, Mrs Weinert and the students have created art work based on the

picture books short listed for awards from the Children’s Book Council of Australia. The

posters will be displayed in the library for

everyone to see. Students in Years 3 and 4 have created PowerPoints based on the

Young Readers books. A selection of these will be shown at assembly on Friday this

week. We look forward to a great week with books lighting up our world!

BLACKTOWN MUSIC FESTIVAL

Students in the 3-6 choir and Stage 2 Dance group will be performing on Monday evening,

24 August in The Blacktown Music Festival at

Wyndam College hall. The children have spent many hours of their own time

practising to ensure they are perfect. I’d like to acknowledge the work of Mrs Taylor and

Mrs Rubino who have led the choir and Miss

Moylan who has choreographed the Stage 2 Dance group. We look forward to a wonderful

musical evening!

send absence notes and much more.
