TRANSCRIPT
Overview
In recent years there has been an explosion of activity in all things synchronisation (time and timing) as operators implement Ethernet/IP networks and new services. New standards, protocols and interfaces combine to make the job of the network architect, network designer / system commissioner / support engineer and operations staff more challenging than ever before. Enter SyncWatchTM a fully featured sync testing and monitoring toolkit. “SyncWatch ManagedTM” is the version of the product that is used by those wishing to characterise network performance, and define, police or defend Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Up to 500 SyncWatch probes are supported by a single instance of the management software, NetSMART. SyncWatch ManagedTM systems allow users to prove the frequency and phase sync performance of all the current synchronisation and timing interfaces found in legacy and evolving networks. SyncE, 1PPS, frequencies (64K-200MHz), T1 & E1 protocols and interfaces are supported.

Qualifying the latest sync and timing technologies
SyncWatch Managed Synchronisation Performance Monitoring
SyncWatch ManagedTM becomes “OSS connected” through the NetSMART, SNMP Northbound Interface and management cross launch features. Unexpected changes, in synchronisation performance, are passed to enabled, Network Management Systems. NMS vendors may use this information to enhance the visibility and control they offer their customers by correlating synchronisation events and link/path events. SyncWatchTM has been designed to provide the most flexible solution on the market. SyncWatch ManagedTM systems are often complemented by SyncWatch StandaloneTM systems that are designed to provide commissioning and support engineers with a comprehensive set of sync and 1588_v2 packet latency test tools.
