Company Overview

A&A Machine & Fabrication LLC in La Marque, Texas is a full-service, 24/7/365 machining and ASME code shop fabrication company with over 80 employees and 82,000 square feet under roof. Our operation is geared toward support for emergency repair, regular maintenance, and new manufacture of precision machined and fabricated goods and hardware for the petrochemical and oil and gas industries. This includes one-of-a-kind components, large volume runs, and repairs to existing components utilizing our machine and fabrication expertise.

A&A’s machining services utilize over 50 manually operated machines including vertical turret lathes (VTLs) with max work piece capacity of 88 inches diameter, lathes that can accommodate parts that are over 20 feet long, and several large horizontal mills. CNC machining capabilities include 8 lathes with up to 40 inches diameter capacity and vertical milling machines, including 4th axis. We also offer Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) including plunge and small hole.

A&A’s ASME code fabrication facility has a skilled workforce to meet your stringent, custom welding fabrication requirements and possesses the U, U2, U3, PP, S and R stamps as well as D Certification for service in The People’s Republic of China. Our organization can service specialty customers such as syngas/gasification, high pressure tubing (LDPE/EVA), and medium pressure piping (MPP), as well as pressure vessels, piping, and various structural assemblies. Special purpose equipment includes autofrettage, orbital welders, and thick-wall tube benders.

A&A can take an existing part or sketch and reverse engineer all the dimensions to replace or upgrade according to the customer’s requirements. Our engineering staff utilizes state-of-the-art COMPRESS, AutoCAD, MasterCAM, and Inventor software packages to perform detailed engineering calculations that can be stamped by our in-house Professional Engineering staff, designed, and drafted to your specifications. Our project management team can work with you and your EPC firm and develop detailed inspection plans, oversee your critical schedule through the manufacturing process, and deliver your product on time. This, coupled with our robust Quality Control Program, ensures that we consistently deliver quality parts and the necessary documentation that meets your needs. Quality is a constant in our production process with several full-time quality control inspectors employed.

CNC Turning and MillingA&A employs several milling machines and multiple CNC turning lathes, including high-performance Mori Seki CNC Lathes, to produce a range of products. Whether producing a single piece with complex configurations, or multitude of parts, holding close tolerances is our specialty. Most CNC lathes have C-axis milling capability which reduces additional setup time, resulting in a cost savings to the customer. Our newest Haas Lathe has a 7-inch hollow spindle and a 40-inch maximum diameter turning capacity. Our milling capacities were enhanced by the addition of a new YamaSeki mill, purchased in 2019. It allows for travels up to 71 inches x 32 inches with a maximum weight capacity of 5,000 pounds.

The biggest and best of petrochemical and oil refineries call on A&A’s CNC expertise to produce various parts and equipment, including:

A&A is a full-service ASME code fabrication and machining facility offering 24/7 emergency onsite field fabrication and construction services, field dimensional inspections and measurement taking, and NDE testing. Our operations are geared to provide repair, modification and/or installation of:

A&A has welding procedures and qualifications for a variety of metals including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Flux Core (FCAW), Submerged Arc (SMAW), and Shielded Metal (SMAW). We also possess specialty, semi-automated welding setups like Orbital Welding and the “Jimmy Jammer” system to provide consistent welds with greater efficiency and volume.

Orbital welding mechanically rotates the arc 360° around a static workpiece, such as a pipe, in a continuous process. The process was developed to address the issue of operator error in gas tungsten arc welding processes. The “Jimmy Jammer” system provides positioning equipment to increase welding production. This system is composed of a manipulator, weld oscillator, cross slide, positioner and turning rolls.

LDPE/EVA High Pressure Tubing Turnkey Managed ServiceA&A provides the resources for your complete high-pressure tubing project. From supplying the special tubing through our partnership with TimkenSteel, to delivering modular units on site, A&A provides your best choice and value for this unique industry. A&A Engineering can perform calculations based upon ASME standards to verify critical LDPE/EVA components like the HP tube, lens rings, flanges, shrink rings, jackets, and bolting. We also offer jacketed tubing, including straights and other traditional items such as “J” bends, “U” bends and jacket replacement, as well as the latest in “short radius hot bends”, copper cladding, jacket repair, tube replacement and autofrettage. Autofrettage is the process of introducing desired residual stresses in a HP tube through hydraulic pressure. This limits crack growth from fatigue in service and ultimately extends the life of the HP tube for our customers.

Project Case Studies

Exotics Piping South TexasReplacement of 20-year-old Jacketed Suction Pipe Cooler and structures. Piping consisted of Duplex and Super Duplex Materials. Met strict ovality of tight radius bends and pipe-in-pipe concentricity requirements utilizing orbital welding, comprehensive quality control inspections and close collaboration with the customer. The project was delivered on-time per the customer’s tight 4-month timeframe. Subsequently, the customer awarded the remaining Jacketed Suction Pipe Cooler project.

Oxygen Mixers Middle EastPerformed a field service repair and installation of an Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol (EOEG) mixer. The mixer required precision machining and fabrication of Inconel tips, Hastelloy feeders and a stainless-steel shell. The ID was chemically polished, and the OD passivated. The necessary replacement parts were manufactured at A&A. Prior to install, the parts, necessary consumables, and quality control documents were shipped to the end-user’s facility where A&A’s field service team completed the repair, final assembly, and NDE testing well within the scheduled 5-week turnaround.

Tubular Glycol Reactor South Texas Customer needed a turnkey company to expertly engineer, design and fabricate this piping behemoth. The overall assembly was approximately 90-feet (27 m) long, 18-feet (5.6 m) high, 73-tons, designed to ASME Section VIII Div. 1, and assembled in a structural frame. The 24-inch (0.6 m) diameter 304 SS piping coil assembly originally called for 180-degree bends, which were in short supply and could only be sourced from overseas. In response, A&A suggested a design modification of welding together two 90-degree elbows, providing equal performance, and saving the customer considerable time and money. The hot dipped galvanized CS structure was assembled onsite in A&A’s 200-foot-long x 50-foot-tall high bay. Keeping to the desired turnkey service, A&A developed a comprehensive lift plan, and arranged/provided transportation to site all within the customer’s tight 6-month timeframe.

180-degree Jacketed HPT U-bends South KoreaA&A was contracted by a South Korean company to design and manufacture a long-lead LDPE high-pressure tubing project comprised of over 30 jacketed 180-degree U-bend assemblies, flanges, and cone rings. The customer required the project to be completed within a 40-week timeframe to meet their turnaround schedule. The project required A&A personnel to travel overseas and perform field verification measurements onsite to generate all fabrication drawings and ensure both trains would fit during installation. Procurement of the long lead TimkenSteel high-pressure tubing material and rise of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in supply chain constraints. Although the government shutdown impacted our vendors, A&A was deemed an essential business and remained open and operational. By flexing support staff work schedules, A&A was able to overcome adversity and successfully construct and ship the project one month ahead of schedule.
