Multi-award winning soprano Marie-Josée Lord received la Fondation de l’Opéra de Qué-bec’s Prix d’Excellence de la Culture in 2005. Her first solo CD, which was recorded with the Metropolitan Orchestra and under Giuseppe Pietraroia’s baton, won a Félix in the category Album of the Year—Classic Vocal in 2012. The ATMA Classic album has sold over 30,000 cop-ies to date. Lord was also nominated for a 2012 Album of the Year Juno Prize. She performed throughout Quebec, Canada, Europe, and the United States during the 2012-13 season.

Lauréate de nombreux prix, la soprano Marie-Josée Lord s’est vu décerner, en 2005, le Prix d’Excellence de la Culture de la Fonda-tion de l’Opéra de Québec. Son premier album solo, enregistré aux côtés du Metropolitan Orchestra, placé sous la baguette Giuseppe Pietraroia, a remporté un Félix dans la caté-gorie Album de l’année 2012—classique vocal. Paru chez ATMA classique, l’album a connu un franc succès avec plus de 30 000 exemplaires vendus à ce jour. La soprano a aussi été mise en candidature pour le prix Juno de l’Album de l’ année 2012. Durant la saison 2012-2013, elle s’est produite au Québec, au Canada, en Europe et aux États-Unis.

Quartango takes tango in new directions, with impeccable arrangements, subtle and unexpected allu-sions to classical music, and a liberal dose of humour, all woven together by the elegant interplay of ensemble playing at its best. The effervescent chemistry between the musicians and their engaging rapport with the audience create a memorable musical experience that never fails to bring down the house!

Carleton University’s MacOdrum Library is pleased to announce that in December 2013 it will open a Music Resource Centre dedicated to Jacob Siskind’s life and legacy. The Jacob Siskind Music Resource Centre will amalgam-ate the library’s music materials with the Jacob Siskind Collection recently acquired by Archives and Research Collections (ARC), and will serve as a central access point for the Library’s music resources.

Jacob Siskind was a distinguished music critic, journalist, and broadcaster whose passion for classical music in Canada is reflected in his vast collection, consisting of approximately 20,000 LPs, 8,000 CDs, and 3,000 78 RPM records as well as taped interviews, books, clippings, correspondence, monographs and musical scores. Acquired by ARC in 2011, this collection reinforces the Library’s music resources and provides unique research and teaching opportunities while enhancing Carleton University’s reputation as a national leader in Canadian music studies. The Siskind Collection will be housed alongside a newly acquired CBC collection comprised of over 20,000 CDs, giving Carleton one of the country’s most comprehensive Canadian jazz collections. ARC’s rare book collection in-cludes 14th century liturgical music, rare sheet, folk, and choral music, reprints of illuminated

manuscripts, and early printed books contain-ing music. Rare music scores and archival material from the Siskind collection will be stored in ARC, close to the Music Resource Centre on the Library’s 5th floor.

The Jacob Siskind Music Resource Centre will feature specialized audio-visual equipment, Finale music-notation stations, and musical instruments such as electronic pianos—allow-ing students to collaborate on composition and research—and a lounge to encourage discussion and interaction. Also located on the Library’s 5th floor is an historic 1913 Stein-way Concert Grand piano, one of the first full-size concert grand pianos in Canada. The instrument was donated to Carleton by the late Hamilton Southam and was played by legend-ary 20th century pianists Sergei Rachmaninoff, Arthur Rubinstein and Bill Evans. The piano will be featured in future concert series.

The Jacob Siskind Music Resource Centre will be a great asset and resource for faculty and student performers, composers and mu-sicologists. It will also benefit members of the general public wishing to take advantage of this unique facility. We look forward to this new and exciting resource room, and we invite you to visit in 2014!

Jacob Siskind s’est illustré tour à tour comme critique musical, journaliste et commentateur radiophonique et a voué une véritable passion pour la musique classique au Canada. Cette passion se reflète dans son immense collection d’environ 20 000 microsillons, de 8000 CD et de 3000 78-tours et via les entrevues enregistrées, les livres, les coupures de presse, les monog-raphies et les partitions musicales. Acquise par (CAR) en 2011, cette collection renforce les ressources musicales de la bibliothèque et donne à l’Université Carleton l’occasion unique de favoriser l’enseignement et la recherche tout en continuant à souligner le rôle de chef de file de l’université dans le domaine des études musicales canadiennes. La collection Siskind côtoiera une collection, nouvellement acquise, de Radio-Canada, composée de plus de 20 000 CD. L’Université Carleton possédera ainsi une des collections de jazz canadiennes les plus complètes du pays. La collection des livres rares de CAR comprend de la musique liturgique du XIVe siècle, des partitions rares, du folk, de la musique chorale, des réimpressions de manuscrits enluminés et d’anciens livres imprimés contenant de la musique. Partitions rares et documents d’archives de la collection Siskind seront stockés dans le centre CAR, à proximité du Centre de ressources musicales au 5e étage de la bibliothèque.

Le Centre de ressources musicales Jacob Siskind disposera d’un équipement spécialisé audio-visuel, de stations de travail de notation musicale Finale, d’instruments musicaux tels que des pianos électroniques—permettant aux étudiants de collaborer à la composition et à la recherche—et d’un salon invitant à la discus-sion et à l’interaction. Se trouvera également au 5e étage un historique piano de concert Stein-way, de 1913, un des premiers pianos à queue de concert au Canada. L’instrument—sur lequel ont joué les légendaires pianistes du 20e siècle Sergueï Rachmaninov, Arthur Rubinstein et Bill Evans—a été offert à l’Université Carleton par
