A Note From LarryBy Larry Selby, VP, Books, Newsletters, and eProducts
Law Journal Press recently conducted an interesting survey. We’ve wondered how best to improve our Law Journal Press service for our customers. The well-received survey provided valuable input on the factors that lead you as librarians to purchase from a publisher and the incentives required for you to retain, purchase, or re-subscribe to a publication. You can view a fuller description of the survey results on pages 1-2 of this newsletter.
I would also like to alert you to two digital product developments.
To begin, all Law Journal Press products are available to subscribers in eBook format as of April of this year. The eBooks are produced in EPUB format, which allows them to be read by most non-proprietary eBook readers, and are included at no additional cost as part of your subscription.
Secondly, I draw your attention to Sales Director Casey Walsh’s announcement on page 2. Our Law Journal Press products and select state-specific publications published by our regional newspapers are now available via IP access, which may make their use much more convenient at your institution. This service is provided in flexible packages with pricing and invoicing based on your firm’s particular needs. I encourage you to contact your account representative or Casey if you have any interest in IP access for your institution.
We’ll be attending AALL as usual this year. Please drop by our booth if you have the opportunity to do so. We’re always interested in hearing your feedback and your ideas for how we can improve our publications and service.
We look forward to seeing you at the AALL conference in San Antonio.

The Results Are In…Customer satisfaction is very important to us. Understanding Why our audience continues to purchase from the same publisher year after year? and What incentives have persuaded them to do so? helps LJP dedicate our resources to the initiatives that benefit our customers the most.
From April 8th to April 22nd, we launched a survey asking key questions about customer loyalty. We offered a $100 AmEx gift card as an incentive. We want to thank those who responded and would like to share the following highlights from our findings.
• The best reason for purchasing from the same publisher year after year was The quality of the resources the content you need in the format you need (91%).

• When asked what incentives have persuaded you to retain an existing product or purchase a new product from a particular publisher, most respondents selected Simple need for the product (86%).

Getting Your Lawyers to Go Digital?Law Journal Press Can Help With a Smooth TransitionBy Casey Walsh, LJP Sales Director
Here at Law Journal Press, we have been producing legal treatises, commentary, and sample pleadings the legal industry has relied upon for over 35 years. As a current customer, you probably already know that. What you may not know is that these same resources are now available online via IP authentication and eBook formats. You are now able to provide easy and immediate access for every attorney in every office right at their own desktop, laptop, or personal device.
Furthermore, it will allow your library and research staffs to free up time normally spent tracking, filing, and cataloguing releases or having to locate the proper resource in print. Rather, they may now spend time on revenue-generating activities for the firm, or on training its legal personnel.
Finally, this service is provided in flexible packages, pricing, and invoicing (annual or monthly billing) based on your firm’s particular budgetary constructs. For more information on these programs, give your LJP sales representative a call today at 1-877-807-8076. Call before June 15th to set up a firm trial and we will include a complimentary subscription to the Law Journal Newsletter of your choice.
We look forward to speaking with you soon!

California Legal Malpractice LawBy J. Randolph Evans, Shari L. Klevins, and Suzanne Y. BadawiThe Recorder, California
In this new era of technology, patent disputes, mega law firm mergers, and business globalization, the threat of legal malpractice has become a
part of the modern day law practice. California Legal Malpractice Law offers practical guidance, including effective claim prevention and loss avoidance. Defending a malpractice case requires not only an understanding of legal malpractice, but the substantive law underlying the lawsuit or transaction. Lately there has been a rise in claims from intellectual property, real estate, personal injury, bankruptcy, and securities matters. And in California, claims from entertainment law are growing. Randy Evans, Shari Klevins, and Suzanne Y. Badawi offer practical solutions in avoiding and handling legal malpractice claims.
