Fest Exhibit & MovieSpecial Rome Exhibit Opens in Collinsville

This year, a fascinating exhibit about Rome will help launch the 2017 Collinsville Italian Fest.

The show, GET YOUR TOGA ON! (A Visit to Rome), will unveil the sights and secrets of this 2,500-year-old city – a favorite destination of thousands from around the world. It will take visitors to Ancient Rome where gladiators battled, emperors reigned, and togas were an accepted mode of dress. Guests will visit special sites, learn the history, see intricate arches and aqueducts and pieces brought back by Rome visitors. They’ll also get a quick peek at Modern Rome, visit the popular Trevi Fountain and the Vatican, see magnificent art by Michelangelo, and much more.

The exhibition is open Sept. 1 – Oct. 15 at the Collinsville Library, 408 West Main Street, Collinsville, IL. For library hours, visit www.italianfest.net or call (618) 344-1112. Italian Film and A Little Gelato

On Thurs., Sept. 14 (6 p.m.), come enjoy some great Italian cinema – and a taste of gelato! This year’s award-winning comedy BELLI DI PAPA’ has been a favorite of movie goers in Italy and US film festivals. It’s the story of Vincenzo, a successful Italian businessman, whose three twenty-something children keep him up at night. They live an easy life with no responsibilities. To bring them back to reality, he conceives a scheme to make them do what they’ve never done before – WORK! But will it last? Admission is free. In Italian with English subtitles. Not recommended for children. The film will be shown in the library’s Community Room.

For information on these events and more, visit www.italianfest.net.

The exhibit and film are sponsored by the Collinsville Library and Italian Film Festival USA (St. Louis).

Thurs., Sept. 14 (6 p.m.)
