The school celebrated “World Music Day “on 21 June, which coincided with the visit of its Founder Mr. Rameshwarlal Kabra. Children began their day with a prayer to the Goddess of education, Saraswati, followed by sanskrit shlokas. World Music Day began in France simply as a day for all the amateur musicians to perform and this culture spread across the world. Students spoke on the importance of music in one’s life. “Life without music will be dry. Including music in education makes it both entertaining and paves way for holistic development,” said Raj Maykar, a grade V student. Ameya Gupta, a grade II student, spoke on the importance of music day. Somaditya, another grade V, student, dedicated a song to Maa Sharadha. The Founder was overjoyed to see this fusion of modern and traditional cultures. Teachers came together to sing two melodious songs. A panel theatre show was performed by the pre-primary teachers, with a thirsty crow as the theme. At the end of the show children were asked a few questions to which they all responded enthusiastically.

Mr. Rameshwarlal Kabra addressed the children with zeal to which the children responded equally. The Founder questioned the students on a wide range of topics. He was very curious to know what the children’s aim was. It elated him, when the students told they want to become citizens who will serve the society. Mr. Kabra also informed the students on how important it is to pay respect to our parents and the God Almighty.

The school went a step ahead on 3 July, 2012 in instilling the rich Indian culture to the students. Guru Devo Bhava is not limited to the prayer which the children sing, instead students proved it in their action. Gurupurnima is the auspicious day when Veda Vyasa, an ancient Indian sage and the author of 4 Vedas was born. This day is celebrated every year to pay respect to our gurus. Children applied vermillion on the forehead of the Principal and the teachers in a way of showing their respect and were blessed in return. Somaditya, a grade V student dedicated a song to the teachers. Ms. Supriya Bhopi, a secondary teacher, talking on the importance of the day said “Guru is a combination of 2 Sanskrit words -“Gu” which means ignorance and “Ru” which means the remover of ignorance and so our gurus are the remover of ignorance from our life.”

The pre-primary children were taken to the Hanuman temple. The tiny toddlers recited prayers and were explained that the priest is one of their gurus. Later the children got the blessings from the pundit Anilji.

Teachers were over-whelmed by the way children valued them and wished the children the best.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away but when do we stop, take time and appreciate the invaluable service they contribute to our society? July 1 is celebrated as Doctor’s day across the Nation to pay respect to the honored physician Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was born on the same day. When a principle is instilled right from the beginning it stays long and builds character- which is the aim of education. In the modern life teaching children about a healthy life style becomes important. To stay healthy is not just being free of diseases but to lead such a lifestyle which is active and stress free. The School had invited 4 doctors on the occasion to make the day. Dr. Praveen Bansal, Dr. Smitha Gandhi, Dr. Dharmika Dodiya and Dr. Pankaj Gupta. A senior Kg student Raditya recited a prayer, “I thank you Lord for the doctors.” A student read out a small news bulletin based on the leading health issues followed by two other students who gave the thought for the day. Ishaan Jubeith, a pre-primary student came dressed as a doctor and spoke on the role of a doctor.

The children performed a small skit which exemplified the life saving service of doctors.

The doctors spoke with the children on the importance of staying fit and growing up to be healthy individuals. Dr. Praveen Bansal, a dentist, explained practically about brushing teeth with a model. He asked the children to eat healthy in order to maintain their oral hygiene. The doctors were happy to see such young children appreciate their service. The Pre-primary teachers presented a colorful greeting card to the doctor. The celebration ended with a pledge taken by the students to lead a healthy and active life.

Music, sweets and Chocolate Handi marked the celebration of Janmashtami on 9 August, 2012. Children were adorned in traditional dresses. This auspicious day began with a prayer to the Goddess Saraswathi. Pre-primary children came dressed as Krishna and Radhe. Each section saw a best dressed Krishna and Radhe. Children sang songs in which they praised Kannaiyya. Mrs. Bhanuyati sang “nanda ananda bayo” a birthday song dedicated to Govinda. Ms. Sheetal also explained the importance of the Dahi Handi- an earthen pot which contains yogurt, ghee and dry fruits which is hung 20-30 feet high in the air. Young men try to break this pot by forming a human pyramid. A replica of this Dahi Handi, Chocolate handi was the main attraction of the day. The pots were hung from the ceiling and were filled with flowers and chocolates. Children were excited and participated enthusiastically to break the pots and collect the chocolates. This cultural treat encouraged students to develop team building skills. Repeatedly falling, missing a hit none of these seemed to pull the kids down. They continued their struggle until they could break the pot and get the toffees. The teachers did not miss the celebration as even they got an opportunity to participate in the Gopalakala. Children encouraged them to break the Handi which was not all that easy. Teachers’ spirits matched with that of the students. Prasad was distributed to the children in their respective classes. Children were immersed in the fun- filled- festival mood.
