STOP yelling and screaming in the hallways. STOP NOW! FOR REAL!

Be respectful of others in the building.

Feel free to make loud noises OUTSIDE.

THANK YOU

When asked by an adult at Quest to do something…do it. Do it respectfully. After compliance, you have a voice…a chance to

talk about it if you think something is unfair or you don’t understand.

At Quest, your voice is important. Using it appropriately and respectfully is the key.

First comply, then use your voice. Be respectful at all times to yourself and others.

RESPECT YOURSELF AND OTHERSIN WORD AND DEED.

The “cinnamon challenge" - swallowing a spoonful of cinnamon all at once can be very dangerous.

Inhaled particles can cause infection in the sinuses or even the lungs.

The coughing can cause extreme spikes in blood pressure, broken blood vessels around the eyes, and other related issues.

Ingesting a spoonful of cinnamon can also result in vomiting.

If by chance you or someone around you is allergic to cinnamon, results can be catastrophic.

Frequently Asked Questions  Why is Lone Star changing its student log in process? Currently, students log into Lone Star computers using generic computer accounts rather

than their unique IDs. In order to give students access to computer resources tailored to their academic needs ? e.g. specialized math software ? we need to know who they are. We also want to maintain strong information technology security practices and requiring users to log in using their own account information is one way to ensure this.

I teach in a computer classroom ? how will this impact me and my students? Our hope is that a majority of your students will already know and use their unique Lone Star

ID and password before the first day of class. They use it now to register, pay, check grades and log into ANGEL and beginning this Monday (January 23rd) they’ll use it to access computers in open areas. Two weeks later, on February 6th, they’ll log into classroom computers using their own account information. By phasing in the change gradually, we expect to minimize the impact in the classroom.

Who do I call for help if student(s) in my class cannot log in? OTS staff will walk the hallways offering assistance the weeks of February 6th and February

13th. You may also call the Service Desk at 832-813-6600 using the telephone in your classroom.

Starting Monday, January 23rd: Computers in Open Areas (Library, Learning Center, Testing Center)

Starting February 6th: Computers in Classrooms

Frequently Asked Questions  How will prospective students who come to campus apply for admission if they can’t log in? Great question! We have special purpose kiosks that will allow prospective students to apply for admission. See below to learn

how new students obtain their Lone Star ID and password.   How will Lone Star students obtain their ID and password? Students receive their unique ID and password when they apply for admission to Lone Star. The information is displayed at the

end of the admission application and it is sent to their personal E-mail address, as well. We have an online self-service tool for students to retrieve their username or reset their password if they forget the information and we have kiosks in heavily-trafficked areas where students can look up this information quickly. They can also contact the Service Desk for help.

How will Lone Star students be notified of this change? We are following a comprehensive communication plan to notify faculty, staff and students of the process change.

Communications started in November 2011 and are ongoing throughout the implementation and include: E-mail messages, notifications through our digital signage, ads posted to Lone Star webpages and in the myLoneStar Portal, and printed posters, flyers and table tents.

What can I expect from OTS during this change? This is a BIG change impacting all of our students and many of our faculty and staff, so expect bumps! Please be patient and

know OTS staff and the Service Desk are available to help during the transition. Will this impact ALL students?

Yes this applies to all Lone Star credit and CE students, as well as library patrons, visitors and guests. Anyone who uses a Lone Star computer will be required to log in using a unique ID. Library patrons will use their 14-digit library card number and PIN for their ID and password.  There is a special process we?ll use to grant temporary computer access to guests and visitors. Later this year, university partner students at our University Centers will be given unique IDs to use when they log on to a Lone Star computer.

Starting Monday, January 23rd: Computers in Open Areas (Library, Learning Center, Testing Center)

Starting February 6th: Computers in Classrooms

Cell phones that are confiscated are kept for 24 hours.

A fee of $15 will be collected before phone is returned to you.

Phones confiscated on a Friday will be kept until Monday.

Additional consequences will be awarded for insubordination. Insubordination is NO NO!!

CELL PHONESCURRENT POLICY

Page 26: Quest Early College HS

Cell phones are not to be used or displayed during the school day (District Policy).

Cell phones are not to be used as music devices. QCMC and the Quest Faculty are working on revising

the policy but changes have not yet been made or announced.

If an adult on this campus asks for your phone, give it up. We can talk later. To refuse creates a bigger issue called INSUBORDINATION. That is not acceptable in our school.
