Page 3: Question 1

Characters – Kyra Blake

The name Kyra connotes light, this could have been seen as a contradiction to her character as she may have been seen as the antagonist within the film. However, others may agree with this connotation due to her killing for good. The costume chosen for Kyra was to symbolize the confusion between whether she was a pro or antagonist. The choice of costume was unconventional to the genre as in most thrillers the female character is hyper sexualized in her costume as well as her attitude, where as Kyra was a polar opposite to that and was more of a tom boy who was misunderstood within her actions. However, her behavior could be seen as generic due to the typical female stereotype of being over emotional. She had no props which carried on the mystery of her character as it was unknown what she did to Rhiannon.

Page 4: Question 1

Characters – Lilly Albert

The name Lilly connotes innocence, purity and beauty. This can be seen from the character of Lilly even if she is only dead due to the obvious battle she has had to face from the bullying she has received. Lilly’s behavior could be seen as generic as characters such as Thelma in Thelma and Louise also killed themselves. Her costume was very simple to show how she was very normal and everyday the use of the purples and whites reinforced her named connotations of purity and beauty. The only props used or Lilly was the phone to show what was said between herself and Rhiannon and then the pills she used to kill herself.

Characters - Rhiannon Erwin

The name Rhiannon means ‘great queen’ which shows how she has a lot of power, this then can be seen from the power she had over Lilly’s life as she was the reason she ended it. Her costume was mostly black other than her scarf to show how she was sly and yet she was trying to cover it up by pretending to be something that she wasn’t. The only props she had was her bag which didn't have any significance to her character although also did add more mystery due to questions that could be asked such as what’s in it? and why does she have it? Rhiannon’s character was very similar to that of Bridget Gregory in The Last Seduction due to how manipulative she Is as a character and her personality.
