Intro
During pre-production we did our first pitch of our treatment and explained to the class our two
initial ideas for our music video.
Our second pitch we got feedback for was for our moving image during the editing stage.
The third pitch was our final product of our music video.
Our last pitch was for our CD digipak and magazine advert in which we presented our proposal and
explained how we wanted to layout our print products.
Treatment feedback
For our treatment we had ideas for our video and asked the class which idea was better. They all
agreed that either idea for our music video would work because they were both strong and
interesting. For our first idea which was to do a video based on depression the class said that the
concept of drugs and alcohol abuse is good and the song is unique because no one has heard of it
due to it being written by our unsigned artist herself. However in the end we chose to go with our
second idea because it was hard for the artist to find time to commit.
Moving image feedback 1
When showing the class the first draft of our music video we had a mixture of opinions but overall
the class thought the video was a good alternative interpretation to the meaning of the song.
Quotes from the pitch:
‘The cutting and storyline was ‘good’
Critisisms
We received criticism that the focusing on the camera wasn’t always clear. From this criticism we
redone the close up writing shot which was the main unfocused shot in the video.
We was also told that the colour of the studio section was orange and the intended narrative of the
boy in the studio finding interest in our artist didn’t work as clear and was rushed. As a result of this
we removed most of our studio scene towards the end and filled in the gaps with lip syncing from
the bedroom scenes.
We were told that one of the close up shots in the bedroom needed to be colour corrected. As a
result of this we used the colour correction tool on final cut pro to fix this.
Moving image pitch feedback2
During the final pitch of our music video we had some more criticism of the video.
They noticed one string of the guitar was broken and from this criticism we took out the close up of
the artist playing the guitar to make it less visible.
We was also told that at one point the camera was tilted when she was handed the card while
busking. However this could not be fixed without re-shooting that scene so we were not able to
adjust it.
Print product pitch

We was told to keep the images used throughout the digipak black and white because it suited
the mood of the song which was loneliness.
• There was a small debate about how the artists face expression should be in the image
based on the mood our music video gave out. It was held that we could show her as either
happy or sad because even though she is lonely she still has her music.
• It should be in colour because if she is happy with her music then the colour will connote her
happiness.
• Black and white helps audience to focus on her and the guitar rather than any else which
might distract us.
