Evaluation Question 4 Who would be the audience for your media product?

The target audience of my media product would be male and female young people, aged from fifteen and over. My target audience would be this age because my films certification would be ‘15’. However, the storyline of the film would be understood by older people also, who would

be able to relate to it and understand the storyline. Females would be part of my target audience because they may be able to relate and empathise with the female character in my thriller opening. They may also have similarities to my character, and may be of a similar

social group. Young females would be able to relate to my female character as she also is a young female aged seventeen and playing the role of a young female, who faces loneliness and

vulnerability. Males would be part of my target audience because they would most likely be interested in the action and danger conventions of my thriller film. Some males may also be

able to relate to the storyline. Young males would be interested mostly in the action and horror side of the film.

This audience would watch my film because they would enjoy the thriller conventions my film meets. My audience would most likely be expecting a thriller horror film, which consists of

thriller conventions and also relates and refers to life situations or possibilities. My thriller film would meet their needs of enjoyment and satisfaction, and they would be confident that it is a

thriller film and meets the thriller conventions. Also, I would aim to meet the needs of my target audience by making the film creative, giving the audience an opportunity to solve any

riddles, mystery and complex aspects of my film.

My target audience is a seventeen year old female, Afro Caribbean.She is doing her A-Levels at college and lives in South Norwood. She studies

Psychology, History, French & Politics. In her free time she enjoys socialising and going out with her friends to restaurants and the cinema on the weekends. She has

a part-time job which allows her to buy the latest film. She said she uses the internet and magazines to get the latest gossip and to know when the latest films

and music is out.

Style

My target audience is very stylish and is always up-to-date when it comes to clothing. She enjoys shopping and gets most of her clothes

from high street shops where she is able to get clothes of her taste and standards. She mostly wears jeans, tops, blazers/jackets and shoes.

She says that her clothes express her as an individual and express her personality. She also enjoys dressing up when going to parties or

birthday-dues at restaurants.

Music

My target audience mainly listens to music such as hip hop and R&B. She says the music she listens to compliments her personality;

cheerful, fun and entertaining.

Maslow’s HierarchyMaslow’s Hierarchy is a theory which consists of an individual’s needs. The diagram shoes needs which needed to

be fulfilled and satisfied because you can get to the next step in the pyramid. The last step is self-actualization.My aim is to satisfy my target audience. Although I may not be able to provide them with psychological needs such

as food and water, I may be able to provide them with a sense of security as my thriller film would show a male character being punished for his wrong-doings and acts towards women. This would make my female target

audience feel secure. Also, I may be able to provide them with a sense of belonging as my thriller film explores a male character wanting destined to belong.

Self-esteem and self-confidence can be provided as the audience of my film would be able to relate or compare their lives to my characters which may most likely make them feel better about themselves as individuals. My film could

also help my audience to better themselves or think about problems they have occurred. Once I have achieved all these features of the Maslow Hierarchy, my target audience will be able to reach self-actualization after watching my thriller

opening.
