Question 5. How did you attract/address

your audience?

Language

• I used informal language to address my audience as it is the best way to grab their attention. • By using colloquial language it appeals to my younger target

audience. • By using more colloquial language my target audience can relate to

the magazine and can understand it better than if it was very formal.

Font

• The font I have used is very unique which could make my audience be more attracted to it as they are more ‘indie’ people that like things to be more alternative and different.• The text I used was big, bold and bright which would make it stand

out in comparison to other magazines. • I also chose a font that was more in keeping with the style a theme of

my magazine. As my it is a more relaxed, alternative retro magazine. So I used a more curvy relaxed font.

Images• The images I have used should engage the audience as on the front

cover there is an image of a teenager, which is the similar age range as the target audience. She is looking into the camera addressing the audience. This technique is a convention used by popular magazines.• The costuming is that of what my target audience would be attracted

to, drawing them in.

Masthead

• The masthead that I have used on my front cover is very unique which would draw in my target audience, as they appreciate the unusual. It is big and bold which would also attract attention. I used a bright house colour for the masthead, which then become a running colour scheme.

Social Media

• The majority of youths, which are my target audience, are avid users of social networking sites such as Facebook, and Twitter.• I felt addressing my audience, and asking their opinion through this

would be useful. I could get quick, direct information and opinions from people who would fit my target audience.• This is also shown through the available on the app store logo,

which is on the contents page. This allows people to view the magazine on their mobile devices and tablets, which is more technologically advanced, and youths and my target audience like to keep up to date with modern technology.
