What have you learnt about technologies from the process of

constructing this product?

Pre-ProductionDuring pre-production I used many technologies in order to both make planning and researching easier and also to communicate with the rest of my group. One technology I had to learn how to use was a program called ‘Fade In’. This is a program designed for script writing and formats it all for you. This made writing our film so much easier.Another program we used was called ‘cletx’. This is an online website that you can write and store your scripts on for the rest of the group to view and edit.As I have not used both of these programs before, it was all completely new to me so I had to learn exactly how to use it.

ProductionDuring the production of our film I learnt to use many technologies. The one that I had to use the most was my cameras OS, the CANON OS.I have used this many times before but this was my first time shooting such low light situations we had to figure out ways around getting grainy footage full of noise. Such as filming in normal light and bringing down the ISO to give the illusion of night. For the shoot we used both the Canon EOS 1100D and the Sony RX100. This was because we wanted to see which looked better in that particular location and in those specific lighting arrangements. We found that for day one when we were shooting Victors shots the Canon 1100D was better, however the RX100 was easily better for the second and third days shooting when we were filming Iris’ footage.

Post-ProductionDuring the post-production of our film I learnt to use many different technologies and softwares in order to get the professional edit that I strived for.The one that I had to use the most was my editing softwares, Premiere Pro and HitFilm.Up until a few weeks in I was Adobes editing software Premiere Pro, however before I finished my first cut I decided to change to the ‘all-in-one’ editor HitFilm 3 pro. This combines both editing and 3D compositing into one simple to use program. HitFilm was incredibly helpful in allowing me to create the look I was going for. However, a new program means new controls and shortcuts to learn although their simple to use UI and help forum allowed me to learn very quickly.

Recording my workDuring the processes of researching, planning, filming and editing I had to use many different websites to publish my work. Here are some of those websites and why I used them:

➔ Prezi - This is a presentation software that allows you to create visually creative 3D-like presentations that look professional and creative simultaneously.

➔ Slideshare - Here is another presentation software that I use for case studies and this presentation. However this only shows basic presentations and hasn’t got a creative edge to it like Prezi has.

➔ Issuu - This is a lot like slideshare however it also introduces nicer transitions and UI.➔ Emaze - Yet another presentation software however this time it mixes both of the above and

helps create a professional stylish powerpoint with the ability to add different transitions.➔ Another incredibly important website that I used was Blogger. This is the main website I used

for all of my recording and plays a very important part in the making of my film and presenting all of my work for everyone to see.

➔ I also found a website called Embed.ly this creates ‘Buttons’ that allow you to embed links and articles in completely new ways making them look good and improves on the links functionality.
