1,An aircraft is flying at 1.6 mach at 2000 and 10,000m altitudes.the atmospheric pressure and densities at these altitudes are 90 X 103 N/m2,29.3 X X 103 N/m2 and 1.113kg/m3,0.42kg/m3 respectively.calculate the speed of air craft at these altitudes in km/h.

2,An aircraft flying at 2.4 mach number at 2000m altitude above a person standing on ground.if atmospheric temperature is 220C,what is the time lapseat which Sonic bang reaches the observer after the plane is directly overhead? Find the horizontal distance travelled by Aircraft at the time of reaching the ground

3,A fighter aeroplane flying at 4000m altitude in level flight .Sonic Boom reaches the ground after 9.5seconds after the aeroplane passing off overhead.If the temperature of atmosphere is 120C.what will be the speed of the aeroplane in km/h and Mach Number.

MODULE-II

1, (a) Describe flow through convergent nozzle and phenomenon of chocking. ( 6 marks)

(b) Air flowing in a duct a velocity of 300m/s,pressure 1.0bar and temperature 290K.Taking √= 1.4 and R = 287J/Kg-K,Determine:

(i) stagnation pressure and temperature,

(ii) velocity of sound in the dynamic and stagnation conditions,

(iii) stagnation pressure assuming constant density.

2, A conical diffuser has entry and exit diameters of 15cm and 30cm respectively.the pressure,temperature and velocity of air at entry are 0.69bar,340K and 180m/s respectively.Determine:

(a) The exit pressure,(b) The exit velocity and (c) The force exerted on the diffuser walls.

Assume isentropic flow , √= 1.4, Cp = 1.00KJ/Kg-K.
