  3. 3. What are the development prospects?
  4. 4. You need to understand if therell be the possibility of promotion or training. Its also important to know if there will be the opportunity for you to adapt the role to suit your particular strengths, and if theyre keen for you to bring new ideas into the business.
  5. 5. What are their values?
  6. 6. Its crucial that the values of the company match yours; otherwise the position might not work out as you expected. If you prefer the concept of teamwork, you might not fit in somewhere that has an emphasis on individual performance.

For instance, does it involve additional travel costs or an increase in working hours?
  9. 9. Can you work with your boss?
  10. 10. When you were introduced to your new boss, did you feel like you could work with them? They will be your key contact, so its vital that they can motivate you and for you to be happy communicating with them.
  11. 11. What is the office environment?
  12. 12. Some offices are still quite formal, whereas others have a more casual approach. Whichever the company has, you need to feel comfortable working there and be able to fit in with the rest of the team.
  13. 13. What is the commute like?
  14. 14. The commute isnt always the first consideration when you get an interview, but you need to think about your daily routine. If its going to be longer, will you be able to manage it every day, and will there be extra costs?
  15. 15. If youre able to answer all of these questions in a positive manner then it looks like you have found a good position for yourself; however, if you are a bit uncertain about some things, it might be time to really take stock and maybe think about other options.
  16. 16. Alternatively, talk to your potential new employer and voice your concerns before accepting or declining. They could help you understand the role a bit better to help you with your decision.
