Derwentwater Primary School Year 2 Homework
Each half term children will be given a poem to learn at home. Please practise it with them and encourage them to use intonation, expression and actions. They will be given time to perform it in class and some will even perform during a year group assembly.
Queue for the Zoo by Clare Bevan
Oh no! There’s a queue! What shall we do? Act like the animals
In the zoo…
Growl like tigers, Grizzle like bears,
Skip about like Mad March Hares, Squirm like snakes,
And squeak like rats, Flap our coats
Like vampire bats, Jump as high as
A kangaroo…
I’m glad we’re in a queue – Aren’t you?
Derwentwater Primary School Year 2 Homework Book Project Reading is part of all learning. Once a half term we want to find out more about a book you love. You can use any book you’ve read, including one not from school. You can:
write a book report
create a poster
complete a book review booklet
write a character description
create a vocabulary tree
create a model of a scene
complete a storyboard
anything else you like that shows us how much you love that book.
These projects will be due that last week of the half term but feel free to bring
them in beforehand. Template are available from your teacher upon request.
