quick & easy sheet metalProjectsWorking with sheet metal isntdifcult i you have the right

tools. All it takes to make the itemsshown here are some basic tools,a pair o tin snips, and the metal

brake eatured in ShopNotes No.108. Youll also need the patterns

on the ollowing pages or layingout the cuts and bends.

I think youll discover that aterabricating these ew simple proj-ects, youll be ready to design and

build your own. And to me, thatshal the un o being in the shop

applying what Ive learned tobuild something thats practical

    and long-lasting.

Sheet Metal. The frst thing Iwant to talk about is sheet metal.

Youll fnd it in a variety o thick-nesses, or gauges. The higher thegauge number, the thinner the

sheet metal. For shop projects likethese, 22-gauge steel is about right.

Its easy to cut and bend but stillhas plenty o strength.

Layout. With the patterns onthe ollowing pages and yoursheet metal in hand, its time to lay

out the project. Then all you needto do is cut out the pattern, make

the bends, and spray on a coat opaint. The end result is a set o

    handy projects or your shop.
