Quick News May 27, 2014 Superintendent’s Message John P. Kronour, Ph.D. The Tipp City Board of Education was prepared to move forward with a proposal for a new Kindergarten through Grade 8 school wrapped around LT Ball. Since making that decision, the state informed us the district would not be on the receiving end of state funding for this project for at least 12 to 18 months. The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission also advised the district that the facilities proposal adopted by the board might not be a feasible concept. The Facilities Committee and other interested community members are invited to a meeting to discuss the status of this endeavor and how best to proceed. It will take place on Tuesday, June 3 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at LT Ball Intermediate School. Bring your ideas and friends. Awards of Excellence for MVCTC Students Congratulations to THS Graduate Abbigayle Hodge. Scholarship Hodge studied Construction Carpentry at MVCTC Congratulations to THS Graduate Lucas

Stalhood The Criminal Justice student was the recipient of the MVCTC Trade and Industry East Department

Congratulations THS Concert and Symphonic Choirs

The Tippecanoe High School Concert and Symphonic Choirs enjoyed an exceptional end to the year Both choirs

received superior ratings at OMEA State contest and performed a spectacular spring concert At the spring

concert students performed a mixture of popular and traditional choral music and recognized the senior

class(picture below) The concert ended with a very special performance of the commissioned piece My Heart

Will Lead Me Home by Cynthia Gray The piece was written by Gray using the words of Tipp Middle School

choir students and was a reflection of her own special time as choir director at Tipp Schools My Heart Will

Lead Me Home opened with a spotlight on this years choir seniors and ended with the entire symphonic choir

singing together The symphonic choir seniors will perform the piece at graduation

Tippecanoe High School Poetry Winner

Congratulations to Tippecanoe High School student Faith Walker The student

wrote a poem for her ninth grade Accelerated English Prepositional Poetry Project

After completing the class assignment Faith saw a notice for a poetry contest and

decided to enter it She finished in the top ten for her age group in a competition

that included all of the United States and Canada The contest called Poetic Power

was organized by Creative Communications

Nevin Coppock showed gratitude to its fabulous volunteers with an Appreciation Breakfast

Thank you for making our school so special

Fourth grade students visited The Garst Museum in Greenville Ohio The Garst Museum is rich in Ohio and local history The main attractions are the Annie Oakley exhibit archeological artifacts from the Northwest Territory and a floor dedicated to local Veterans with uniforms and other artifacts on display Students also learned about the history and importance of Native Americans in this area Thank you Tipp City Area Community Foundations for supporting this learning opportunity

Cancer education at LT Ball encourages students and their families to start on a lifelong path to

healthier living and teaches how to reduce the likelihood of getting cancer They also learned the

value of philanthropy and during the year raised money for the American Cancer Society They

culminated the year-long effort with an EPIC Spirit Week and the annual Relay for Life

students Approved Means of Immunization Pursuant to Sections 370113 and 3313671 of the Ohio Revised Code states

Effective with the 2010-2011 school year and each year thereafter one dose of Tdap (tetanus diphtheria and acellular pertussis adolescent and adult formulation) prior to entry into the seventh (7

th)

grade This dose is intended to be administered as a booster dose for students who have completed the required doses of the initial series of DTaP

Verification of immunization must be received in the school office by the first day of classes August 20 2014 Verification can be in the form of an updated immunization record from your physicianrsquos office or on a signed physicianrsquos prescription note Additional information may be obtained from your family physician or you can contact the school at (937) 667-8454

Senior Awards--The awards ceremony starts at 900 am in the Center for Performing Arts All seniors are required to attend Parents are welcome Juniors and siblings of seniors will come to the CPA to watch Other classes may watch via closed circuit TV All juniors will remain in the CPA for the Expressions Meeting FRIDAY Graduation Practice--Practice starts at 900 am All seniors must be present to walk in graduation Senior Picnic--The picnic starts immediately after the practice SUNDAY Graduation--The ceremony starts at 230 Doors open at 130 pm

The DEADLINE for daycarebabysitter school bus transportation requests is August 8 2014 The district cannot accept late requests The transportation department will resume taking requests on September 8 2014
