Sam (Smart Assistant for Mobile) is a pocket travel assistant that helps business travellers with everything from itinerary management, bookings, service and support. Sam is designed to help make business travel easy and enjoyable. It does this by employing a blend of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and integrated consultant support and expertise.

Download the app

1. Search for Sam – Trip Planner & Assistant in the App Store or Google Play.

2. Select the GET or INSTALL button to download the app to your device.

Install the app

1. Open the Sam app. You will be asked if you are travelling with one of the Flight Centre Travel Group brands. Click YES to ensure you configure the relevant version of Sam.

2. Enter your work email address and press LOG IN to continue. This email address must match what is configured in FCM’s Hub.

3. You can now choose to have an authentication link emailed to you or select to enter your FCM Hub password if known.

Once you’re logged in you’ll notice three main sections of the app – Options, Sam :] and Itinerary. Simply tap these tabs or swipe to navigate quickly between the sections.Navigating Sam

Options

In Options, you will have access to your profile and notification settings, as well as stats (statistics) for all your trips. You can also access FAQs, send feedback or report issues as well as call your Travel Manager, without looking up a number.

Sam :]

This section is where your main interaction with Sam will take place. Here you will be able to receive notifications from Sam – everything from alerts to check in, status of flights, departure gates, baggage carousel, traffic alerts, weather reports and other useful information. There are several action buttons at the bottom of the screen to receive relevant support and help.

Itinerary

The Itinerary section will show your upcoming travel plans. These can be flights, hotels, car hire, meetings or events. All travel booked with FCM will synchronise automatically into Sam.

Sam for travel arrangers

Sam for Travel Arrangers can be used to:

Show each traveller’s flight plans and automatically alert the travel manager to any substantial delays or cancellations

Allow anyone overseeing a traveller to check whether they have remembered to book a hotel room or car transfer if they had promised to do so

Send messages to each traveller and anyone who looks after them about important destination information as well as any changes or problems arising

Mark specific trips as personal so a traveller can use Sam’s helpful features when on holiday but without any oversight or assistance from their company

To set yourself up as an arranger you will need to have arranger rights in Hub and have profiles linked to your name. Please contact your travel manager should you need assistance with this setup.

The app will seamlessly support anyone responsible for the travel arrangements of multiple employees.
