Introduction

In ventilation technology, two criteria are of particular importance:

• the air velocity in the occupied zone and

• the sound pressure level in the room

Air velocity

The air velocity depends on variables such as

• flow rate in combination with type and size of the diffuser

• arrangement of the diffusers within the room

• the height of the room

The flow pattern provided by the diffuser (swirl, linear or displacement)

also influences the maximum possible air change rate.

Drafts are caused by excessive air velocity in the occupied zone. The

configuration tables in this Quick Selection Guide have been chosen to

meet the most critical comfort criteria at a level exceeding that required

by European Standards.

Sound pressure level

A defined sound pressure level, depending on the type of room

involved, should not be exceeded. The following components of the

ventilation system influence the sound pressure level:

• fans

• fire dampers

• air terminal units

• diffusers

The Quick Selection Guide contains the necessary data for calculating

the sound power levels. The Guide also allows selection of the

necessary attenuators.

Generally, the sound power level per diffuser is limited to 40 dB(A)

without room attenuation.

Multi Service Chilled BeamMSCB

The latest advance in chilled beam technology combines aesthetic flexibility with economical functionality to produce the nextgeneration in building services systems. Designed around one of TROX’s active or passive chilled beam units, beam casingsincorporate high grade architectural extrusion and the opportunity for the inclusion of integrated mechanical services to meet aclient’s bespoke needs.

TROX UK has comprehensive testing facilities which allows for the manufacture and testing of a full size sample in a mock-upsetting. Key criteria are confirmed by the in-house laboratory including: thermal, photometric, aerodynamic and acousticrequirements.

Mechanical services that can be incorporated into thebeam include:

� Lighting

� Loudspeakers

� Sprinklers

� Smoke detectors

� Motion detectors

� Hidden integral cable trays

Fancoil

Manufactured in the UK, to meet with the latest Part L, thelatest TROX range of horizontal concealed water sidecontrolled chassis fancoils have been redesigned into amonocoque configuration with an integral multi-spigotdischarge plenum, enabling lower SFP, reduced noise levelsand higher overall efficiency.

The PWH range comprises of six sizes to cover a range ofairflows from 75 l/s to 560l/s, with external pressures from 5Pato 75Pa, and total cooling duties from 1kW to 7.5kW. Also theycan be matched to the TROX plenum/grille sets to have theperfect system.

With the PWH fancoils having a standard height of 270mmthey are ideal where higher duties are required, and aresupplied as standard complete with either G2 or G3 washablefilters, control and valve packages, round or elliptical dischargespigots and standard sloping drain trays that are extendedunder the valve sets. For critical noise applications TROX areable to supply fully tested attenuators for the inlet anddischarges of the fancoil.

TROX ControlsThe fancoils can be supplied with standard factory fitted, and fully tested controls package that is suitable for BacNetcompatibility.

TROX Valve SetsThe fancoils can be supplied with standard factory fitted, and fully tested valve andactuator packages. These are selected to ensure correct control with the fancoilexchangers.

These valve sets consist of 2-way pressure independent control valves, with the option ofincluded electronic flow meters. The PICV’s are fully configured with diverting valves, anddrains to ensure the valve is protected during flushing. Binder points are also included forcommissioning of the unit.

TestingTROX have an in house, BSRIA approved test laboratory where all the PWH units are rigorously tested to the latest standards.The fancoils for a particular project can be witness tested to prove the given duties.
