Aristotle – Greek philosopher,one of the first to create a Western system of philosophy and beliefs. • master of the art of persuasion, points out the
three main tactics to be employed if one wished to succeed in the business of persuasion.
• In Greek, they are:
1. ETHOS2. PATHOS3. LOGOS

ETHOS (Ethical Appeal): It signifies a person’s character. This is where you establish yourself as a voice that should be heard. Of the three, it should come first in an argument or debate.
CREDIBILITY-why you should be heard?

PATHOS (Emotional Appeal): It is the motivating factor in your speech. It arouses the passions of the listeners, getting their emotions running in the direction of the action to be taken.
EMOTIONAL-MOTIVATING factor of speech. FEEL what you want them to feel.

LOGOS (Logical Appeal): It is the command of reasons. Once you have established a reason to be heard and have your audience with you emotionally, you produce all the reasons why they should take a certain action.
LOGICAL –REASON and PURPOSE: What do you want them to DO? Why should they do what you want?
“You tell them, they do it!”
