Submission Projects
To submit your invention to Eval on Quirky 2.0, you
must complete 5 different submission projects:
Features, Inspiration, Sketches, 3D Models, and
Pitches. Add contributions to your projects, then
pick the best ones to represent each project at
Eval by hovering over them and clicking “pick”.
When a project has at least 1 picked contribution,
that project is considered complete.
Invention Teams
You can invite anyone from the community to
help out on any project for your invention—thus
creating a team! There’s no limit to the amount of
people on a team and anyone can join public teams
by contributing to a project. You can always work
privately, too.
Private vs. Public
When you first start building your invention,
it’s private—meaning only you and your invited
collaborators can see it and contribute to it. You
can keep your invention private until you submit
it to Eval. You can also make your invention
public at any time—meaning everyone can see
and collaborate on your invention. Once your
invention is public, it cannot go back to private.
Quirky’s invention platform is built with collaboration at its core. With tools
like community skill searches and high-speed chats, you have all you need
to build and complete a compelling invention submission. Here’s some
basic information to get you started:
Quirky Kids
To make invention more accessible, kids are now
allowed to have their own Quirky.com accounts.
Verifiable parental consent is required when
creating up the account.
Influence Distribution
As an inventor, you have 80% of the Influence to
share at your discretion. You can keep it for yourself
or offer it as a reward to other community members
for project contributions. When you “pick” a single
contribution within a submission project, some
of your Influence for that project will be awarded
to that contributor. If you “pick” more than one
contribution, some of your Influence will be evenly
distributed among the picked contributors. An
additional 5% is reserved for Eval Queue projects
(public). The remaining 15% is for post-Eval projects
(public). Any leftover Influence from post-Eval
projects is distributed to the picked contributors,
commensurate with their original percentage.
Submit to Eval
All inventions that meet the 5-project submission
requirements (with staff approval) jump in a line for
Eval—a.k.a. the Eval Queue. You will be notified
via email when your invention is scheduled for
Eval, our weekly product evaluation broadcast live on Thursdays at 7pm ET on quirky.com/eval

Eval Queue
When approved for Eval, your invention becomes
public to allow community participation in 2 Eval
Queue projects: Competition (0% Influence) and
Market Research (5% Influence).
Scheduled for Eval
You can always see which ideas are heading to this
week’s Eval on quirky.com/invent/at-eval.
Post-Eval
If your invention is chosen at Eval, congrats!
We’ll present your invention to the Powered by
Quirky partner associated with your invention’s
category. If they want to move forward with
development, we’ll touch base. If your invention
doesn’t get chosen at Eval, take the evening’s
feedback as constructive criticism. You’re
welcome to resubmit.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (...SO FAR)
Q What happened to the old Quirky site and shop?
A You can no longer access the old Quirky site or the shop pages. If a Quirky product is still available for sale, its page will link to a third party retailer (like Amazon) where you can purchase it. Or, run a Google search with the product’s name you’re looking to find available retailers.
Q What happens to all of the inventions I submitted before 2.0?
A Good news—all of your inventions will transfer to Quirky 2.0. If they were live, expired, or rejected on the old platform, they will show up on your 2.0 profile as private. You’re welcome to resubmit them as new inventions using the 5-project submission process. If an invention of yours was selected at Eval for development, it will be ported over as public.
Q Where are all my votes?
A That information, since it has no counterpart on Quirky 2.0, was not brought over. Don’t worry though, votes and thumbs up don’t dictate which inventions go to Eval. If you complete the submission projects, your invention goes to Eval regardless.
Q Who can see my inventions?
A The default setting for an invention on Quirky 2.0 is private. If you’d like to invite others to contribute to your private invention, you can build your team by sending invitations (invited teammates will see only your public inventions or the inventions you invite them to). If you’d like to open your invention up to the community, make it public. When public, everyone can see and contribute to your invention. Once you submit to Eval, your invention will automatically be visible to the public and Market Research will open up for community participation.
Q What’s required in an invention submission?
A To get started, all you need is a title and description. If you want to submit your invention to Eval, however, you need to complete the 5 submission projects. These include: Features, Inspiration, Sketches, 3D Models, and Pitches.
Q What if I can’t do a project—like 3D Models?
A Luckily, collaboration is easy on Quirky 2.0! You can ask experts in the community to help you out on your submission and form a team. In exchange, you will allocate a percentage of Influence to those whose contributions you pick.
Q How long do I have to work on my idea?
A As long as you want! Take your time and do quality work. We bet it’ll pay off in the long run.
