1. AMERICAN UNITED SCHOOL MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT

2. POLICIES

The REAL program is open for students in grades KG – 5th. When selecting activities, please make two

choices for each day, in the event that your first choice is not available.

Registration for the REAL is administered on a "first come first served basis". However, in most cases

there are places for all interested students.

Activities will only run with a minimum of 10 participants and any REAL with less than 10 registered may

be subject to cancellation.

At the Elementary level, REAL begins with a fifteen minutes recess from 2:45 - 3:00pm. Beginning at

3:00 p.m. students begin an Extended Learning block which focuses on homework support for students

by a grade level teacher. A snack is provided for all students who participate in REAL Activities during this

time. At 3:30 all students transition to their registered activity.

3. REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

How to Register

To register, please complete the registration form online at our school website (www.aus.edu.kw)

or in the Registrar Office.

Do not fax or e-mail your application.

Applications will only be processed if accompanied by payment.

Confirmation and Payment

Payment can be made online at our school website www.aus.edu.kw .

Payment is non-refundable. No credit will be issued for days missed.

Cancellation

Administration reserves the right to cancel session dates based on the needs of the school. If an activity

is cancelled due to teacher illness or school closure, parents will receive an EMAIL informing them.

Make-up dates for missed session days are at the discretion of the Administration.

* No refund or credit will be issued for students absent from an REAL activity for any reason.

4. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

1. Students are to listen to REAL leaders when they are giving instructions and respond respectfully

and positively to guidelines that may be given according to each environment.

2. Safety rules will be explained and must be adhered to at all times.

3. Students should work cooperatively and respectfully with their peers so that each individual can

pursue their activity without being disrupted or distracted by others.

4. Students should remain on task and make the most of their opportunity to learn and enjoy their

time in the activity.

Behavior/Discipline Policy

The Behavior/Discipline policy is effective immediately and will be strictly enforced. Additionally,

Administration reserves the right to cancel the future participation of any child that continually fails to

meet the behavior expectations. If a student is removed from a club for continued improper behavior, no

refund will be issued. Incidents will be tallied per session.

First Incident – Written Warning Letter/Phone Call

Second Incident – Written Warning Letter/Parental Meeting, Child Excluded for 1 Day

Third Incident – Written Notification, Child is Withdrawn from Program

5. PICKUP FROM REAL

Dismissal

All Elementary School REAL participants will be escorted to the east side of the building (Elementary

School drop off/pickup area) for dismissal. All Middle School REAL participants will be escorted to the

west side of the building (Middle School drop off/pickup area) for dismissal. Pickup must be arranged

prior and arrive promptly at the designated time. No supervision is provided by teachers after students

are escorted to the drop off area. Please respect the commitments of our instructors and arrive promptly

for pick-up. Students who are habitually not pickup up in a timely manner will be removed from the REAL

program for the remainder of the session with no refund. REAL Club dismissal is at 4:30. Students must

be picked up by an adult between 4:30 and 4:45.

AUS does not provide bus transportation to students in REAL.

Late Pick-Up Policy

The Late Pick-Up policy is effective immediately and will be strictly enforced. Additionally, Administration

reserves the right to cancel the future participation of any child without refund whose parents are

habitually late to pick them up. Incidents will be tallied per session.

Parents arriving for pick up later than 4:45 are considered late and subject to the late pickup policy

consequences.

All Elementary and Middle School clubs are from 3:30 – 4:30 pm.

All registered club students will be given an afternoon snack and will attend Extended Learning from 2:45

– 3:30 at no extra change.

Academic Enrichment is available to any 1st-5th grade AUS student. This program will offer small group

homework support and enrichment activities for English/Reading, Math, ESL and Arabic. We will offer it

as a two day a week program (M/W) or one day a week (T). Students may also register for all three

days. Teachers will work with the classroom teachers to identify each student’s targeted areas for

growth.

Ballet for Beginners!

Learn to move gracefully! Enjoy a low-key beginners’ class in basic technique that will culminate in a brief

performance. Instruction will include the five positions as well as simple moves, and it will improve

balance, posture and general movement ability.

Kids in the Kitchen Club!

Let's get cooking! This club is a great way to learn about good nutrition and cooking healthy food. Specific

cooking skills will be highlighted for every session. Students will have fun in the kitchen preparing simple

and tasty recipes and be guided to healthy eating.

Girls Running Club!

We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program includes

understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with

and shape the world at large. The girls will be building up their stamina to participate in a 5K run.

and interest through inquiry-based interactive activities focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and

Math (STEM).

Let’s learn to CODE on the computer!! You've played numerous computer games and have enjoyed

opportunity to learn what coding is and what it takes to create their own animations, games, and

simulations on the computer!! To do this, they will learn how to make their own art, music, animation,

and special effects.

Baking Club provides a fun and interactive place for students who enjoy baking to make easy-bake

desserts at school. It is meant for students to apply and enhance their math skills such as measuring and

converting. It also develops their social skills as they work with students whom they share the same

Puppetry!

Not only are puppets a lot of fun, they also encourage communication skills, social/emotional

development, and help children learn and understand the world around them through imaginative play.

Participants in Puppetry Club will design and create a variety of puppets from around the world including

shadow, stick, and hand puppets. Students will additionally have the opportunity to develop an original

script, props, and backdrops.

ArKidsTecture: The Crafty Builder!

Do you love putting things together to build something new? If yes, this club is for you! Students will be

exposed to different types of building exercises that will get their creative juices flowing. They will be

putting together three-dimensional constructs. After each activity, they will reflect and journal their

learning to strengthen information that was previously covered.

Learning Science is always fun! Our science club provides fun, interactive and educational hands-on

activities that instill a clearer understanding of science. Students will explore the effects of the world

around them by creating exciting projects and using their senses to test edible science crafts. Students

are able to touch, see, hear, feel and taste what science is all about. In each class, your child will make

and take home a project dealing with that week's project. Additional materials are sent home to extend

the fun and learning.

Young Scientist Club!

Young scientists learn by hands on activities in the lab where students conduct various experiments and

Want to learn how to think like a King or a Queen? Students will improve or develop critical thinking

Literacy with Minecraft is for students that are looking to strengthen their literacy skills while having a

great time playing Minecraft. Each session the students will spend a time playing Minecraft and then

spending time writing or discussing their adventures of the day. Students will have a chance to work on

their writing, speaking and listening, reading, and social skills while having fun. Literacy with Minecraft

could be just what your child needs to build their literacy interest.

AUS Cheer Club!

Students will learn crowd cheers, and dance routines to perform at future AUS school events, games and

Cooking club is for students who desire to become young chefs. Students will be hands on making quick

snacks such as fun shaped chocolate molds, peanut butter and jelly sushi rolls and a lot of other

delicious treats. Students will learn teamwork, kitchen safety, math skills and time management. This is

a great way for students to gain a head start on becoming future Chefs.

Students will learn to make personalized quality prints on T-shirt using textile ink, silk screen, and paper

Want to be a graphic designer? Interested in using technology to create art? Join us and learn to use your

Arts, Food, and Dance Around the World Club!

Do you want to travel the world? Our club encourages students to be globally aware of different cultures

around the world through arts, dancing and food. We will travel the world virtually by cooking, creating

arts and crafts, learn interesting dances and experience the richness of other countries culture. Students

will have the opportunity to share with everybody their travel experiences. Then join us where learning is

fun!

Art Club!

Do you love art? Is one art class a week not enough for you? Hang out with Miss Muller after school to

create some cool projects that you wouldn't be able to do in class! Get creative and use your imagination

Table Tennis Club!

Learn new skills while having fun! Playing table tennis (Ping Pong) is a great recreational activity, giving

you the opportunity to learn new set of rules and strategies of an indoor game. Students will learn how to

effectively play table tennis and developing a serve, forehand and backhand. This game will help them

develop the basic skills so they can play recreational or competitive table tennis outside of class.

AUS Basketball club!

Young basketball players will learn basic fundamentals for the game of basketball. They will also engage

in competitive games while they learn how to work together as a team. There will be no formal

competitions for this clubs in this session.

Beginner Basketball!

Students will learn teamwork while practicing various basketball skills. Students will practice dribbling,

shooting and passing skills needed to play game.

Beginner Swimming!

Teacher: Coaches Gholamrezaiee, Feliciano, Abdulrazak

Location: The Splash Pool in B2

Open to Grade(s): KG – 5th

Students will gain an introduction to basic swimming and water safety skills such as bubbling, floating on

the back, floating on the chest, cycling motion, and basic diving (in shallow water) skills and learn the

back stroke. Students slightly more advanced will be able to learn to back crawl and work to develop

basic freestyle stroke skills such as (legs motion, arms action). All of these activities will be introduced in

a fun and child friendly manner that incorporates activities and games! Students that prove themselves

capable of performing to the level necessary to compete can possibly join the AUS Swim group.

AUS Swim Club!

The goal of the REAL swimming program is to provide the students with coaching and instruction to learn

the skills and fundamentals of competition swimming. Additionally, students will learn new strokes and

techniques as they seek to improve their skills. Team members will also gain self-confidence as they

work on improving strength, speed and fitness. At the end of each REAL session, students will be

selected to participate in a swim meet against other local schools. This meet will take place the last

week of REAL during one of the session days during the scheduled time between 3:30pm and 4:30pm.

Karate club!

Teacher(s): Mr. Omran

Location: B2 Multipurpose Rm.

Open to Grade(s): KG – 5th

Day(s): Monday & Wednesday Fee: 120KD

The karate club will be hosted by Mr. Omran of the International Karate Organization. He has over 20

years of working with children of all ages and he teaches a Kyokushin style karate. This style is rooted in

a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training. Students will be eligible to receive a

certificate based on the level (degree) of belt attained during the session. Fee does include the karate

uniform.

AUS Soccer Club!

The goal of the REAL soccer program is to provide the students with coaching and instruction to learn the

skills and fundamentals of soccer. Additionally, students will be taught the rules of soccer, team

strategies for game competition and other important soccer skills necessary to learn how to play on a

team. Team members will also gain self-confidence as they work on improving strength, speed and

fitness. There will be game competitions within the team as well as against other schools here in Kuwait.

During the REAL session, students will be selected to participate in 2 to 4 games against local schools or

leagues. These games will take place within the REAL session during the scheduled club meeting times,

between 3:30pm and 4:30pm.
