A holistic approach to understand the problems of migrant quarry workers which reduces their life expectancy.

Review of literature

Anti-Slavery International estimates that roughly 1 million children work in India’s stone quarries.

Working in quarry ‘reduces life expectancy’. They die of silicosis or occupational lung disease. The studies all talk about adults and the effects of constant dust and pollution on them.

Review of literature

Working in quarries experience the constant risk of accidents, injury and chronic health hazards.

Push Factors and pull factors are economic, political, cultural, social and environment based.

Low wages and low expectation for dignified employment.

Massive population movements of the modern times have wider social, economic, political, demographic and ecological implications.

Most people suffer from various diseases such as cancer, asthma and other related diseases causing due to pollution.

Quality of life of the quarry workers are very poor, other mental health issues are mental stress, job stress, emotional issues.

INTERVENTION MODEL

Awareness about the government programmes, introduce identity card and insurance package. Compulsory preventive measures, Introducing counselor.

CONCLUTION

The research has revealed the various problems of migrant quarry workers which need holistic approach to maintain their physical and mental health for a long life and a better tomorrow.
