–contactorsusedinsequencecontrol.Inthecaseofanaccidentalsupplyfailureonemaywanttoknowpreciselythestate(ONorOFF)ofparticularcontactorsattheinstantthesupplyfailureoccured.

–contactorswhichmustremainclosedforsafetyreasons,evenifthecontrolcircuitsupplyhascomeoff.–contactorsindistributioncircuits(thecontactorcanbeusedasanisolatingswitchoperatedbyasignal

tothecoil).–protectionagainstaccidentalfailureofthemainssupply.Thecontactorwouldremainclosedwhatever

thedurationofthefaultmaybe.–contactorswhichremainalmostpermanentlyclosed.Coilconsumptionenergysavingsareincreased

comparedtostandardcontactorswhosecoilsremainpermanentlyenergized.

DescriptionIORR..-AMEandIORE..-AMEmechanicallylatchedcontactorsdifferfromIORRandIOREstandardcontac-torsbyadoubleelectro-magnet(withclosingandtrippingcoils,electricallyseparate).Makingandbreakingcapacitiesareidenticaltothoseofstandardcontactorsofthesamerating.

TheIORR..-AMEmechanicallylatchedcontactorsarea.c.operated.FortheIORR..-AMEtypes,theclos-ingcoilonly,isfedfromana.c.supplyviaarectifierandaneconomyresistortolimitthecurrentvalueincontrolcircuit.

TheIORE..-AMEmechanicallylatchedcontactorsared.c.operated.Theclosingcoilisfedviaaneconomyresistortolimitthecurrentvalueincontrolcircuit.Thetrippingcoilisfeddirectlyfromad.c.supplywithouteconomyresistor.

On4-polecontactors,with3poles+neutral(3+N),theneutralpoleisalwaysratedat900Aandmountedonthelefthandsideofthecontactorframe.

ConstructionAmechanicallatchismountedabovetheclosingelectro-magnet.Thetrippingelectro-magnetreleasesthemechanicallatch.

Operation●Closingofcontactor(latching)

Oncetheclosingcoilisenergizedthecontactorclosesandwillremainsoindefinitelybytheactionofthemechanicallatchwhichholdsinthemovingpartoftheclosingelectro-magnet.Theclosingcoilisde-energizedbyanelectricalinterlockingcontactmountedonthecontactor.

●Openingofcontactor(de-latching)Oncethetrippingcoilisenergized,thetrippingelectro-magnetreleasesthemechanicallatch,de-latchingthemovingpartoftheclosingelectro-magnet,allowingthecontactortoopen.Oncethecontactorisopen,thetrippingcoilisde-energizedbyanelectricalinterlockingcontactmountedonthecontactor.IORR..-AMFandIORE..-AMFvariantsaredesignedwith2trippingcoils(doublede-latchingcontrol).

Auxiliary contactsTheauxiliarycontactsfittedasstandardareusedforde-energizationofclosingandtrippingcoils.None are available as standard.
