R-Value?

• Refers to the efficiency of the insulation of a house

• Ratio of the temperature difference across an insulator and the heat flux.

Fiberglass/Mineral Wool

• Fiberglass and mineral wool have the same uses and forms as insulation products.

• Mineral wool is manufactured similarly to fiberglass, with molten rock instead of glass, and also comes in batts or rolled blankets, or loose-fill.

• wool R-value is slightly higher than that of common fiberglass:

Cellulose

• 4 major types of cellulose products• The thermal performance of loose

filled cellulose compares favorably to other types of insulation

• Cellulose is very good at fitting around items in walls like pipes and wiring leaving few air pockets that can reduce the overall efficiency of the wall

Styrofoam

• Polyurethane Foam is experiencing a growing popularity, due to its effectiveness

• -offer a high insulating performance and are largely used in: flat ceilings, framed walls, pitched roof.
