R12 TCA (Trading Commun ity Ar chit ectu re):

What is TCA?

Oracle Trading Comm unity Architectur e (TCA) is a data m odel tha t allows you to mana ge complex inform ation

about th e parties, or cu stomer s.

Trading Commu nity Architectur e is the im plementa tion of technology and applications to allow users to create

and m aintain relationships among entities. It is a w ay to understand who y our customer interacts with inside and

out side th e enter prise.

Note: Customer, Vendor, Supplier are the t erms that we come a cross very frequently .

For instance: We buy goods from a Sh op Vendor so we ar e the Cu stom er to tha t V endor a nd the V endor is our

Supplier for that good. The Vendor gets goods f rom a m erchant who actually produces it (Manufactur er), so now th e

v endor in-tu rn becomes a custom er to the Manufacturer who is the Supplier.

Th e complete TCA can be related and runs around all these term s, these may be people we meet generally who migh t

be a Supplier or Customer in our perspectiv e.

Now m ovin g ah ead lets go in details about TCA .

How TCA Matters?

Before TCA:

There a re m ult iple custom er definitions across the enterpr ise.

It w as v ery difficult to track cu rrent and historical inform ation about the customers.

There wa s a la ck of support for m ixed business.

It w as quite tough to understand r elationships between cu stom ers and others (suppliers, part ners, competitors)

After TCA :

Creat e a centr al r epository for th e entire E-Business Suit e to store informa tion relat ing t o all m embers of a

tr ading comm un ity v ersus separa te tables for each m ember-Prospects, Customers, Conta cts, Employees, Par tner s

Distr ibutors, Suppliers, Banks, etc.

Record com plex business relat ionships between Tra ding Comm unit y entit ies (including 3 rd part y

relationships).

Support all business models, in dustries, and geographies.

Represents any entity that can enter into business relationships with y our

–>Accounting data pertaining t o the bank account use

TCA creat es a new cla ssification category called “Business Function”. It is used mainly to model wha t business

funct ions a party can perform in E-Business Suite

For m odeling lega l entit ies and establishm ents in TCA, classification code “Legal Entity ” a nd “Establishment ”

ar e created under the “Business Function” class cat egory .
