Know where you’re going. And how to get there. The nature of delivery is changing. Increasingly, distribution volumes are fluctuating on a daily and seasonal basis.

By 2018, more than 50% of deliveries are expected to shift from retail locations to residential 1 due to the surge of e-commerce, making the job of creating efficient routes a greater challenge every day.

To remain competitive, delivery organizations like yours must know how to navigate this changing landscape. But these fast-moving changes present opportunities for growth.

Route territory planning, workload balancing, and daily delivery sequencing must be as accurate and efficient as possible as residential deliveries skyrocket and routes

change more dynamically than ever. Reducing just a few miles from each day’s route can save millions of dollars and give you the edge on your competition.

Whether you’re grappling with the

impact of e-commerce or adapting to

the decreasing volume of letter mail,

automating your routing processes

with routing technology can help you

improve operational effectiveness,

boost competitiveness, and secure

your positioning as a leader in the

future.

Improve your operations anywhere, at any scale.

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services from RouteSmart Technologies is a centrally hosted, cloud-based, managed service solution that specifically addresses traditional parcel and postal delivery, while meeting the changing needs of the global delivery industry.

Adaptable to a country’s language, maps, and address information, RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services is designed for big data and big routes. It manages scenarios of millions of package deliveries that must be routed in a limited amount of time.

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services helps national posts, small package and local delivery companies, and door-to-door advertisers solve their toughest problems:

• E-commerce last-mile delivery: Reduce daily planning from hours to seconds on your dynamically changing routes. Build more efficient routes to reduce travel time, distance, and fuel expenses.

• Parcel and express mail services: Create daily plans to meet time-sensitive express deliveries and every-other-day (A/B) service scenarios.

• Newspaper and unaddressed mail: Create realistic, competitive plans to deliver all of your unaddressed mail, newspapers, and other products.

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services is available through a subscription-based, Software as a Service (SaaS) model. This enables you to continue working within your current systems and leverage RouteSmart’s managed platform to help you reduce system management and software licensing costs.

Gain benefits across your operation.

Reengineering your processes with routing technology can save hundreds or thousands of miles across your fleet every day, and help reduce delivery costs. You can save millions of dollars each year by reducing the average aggregated daily travel of your drivers by just a single mile.

OPERATIONAL BENEFITS:• Solves routing and dispatching problems in seconds

• Decreases planning time, total route times, and distance

• Saves time and money on distribution through more effective route planning

• Automates daily tasks for more dynamic delivery order sequencing

• Provides on-demand routing and sequencing

• Sequences routes to increase stops/orders per hour

• Manages service with critical delivery times

• Improves client satisfaction by ensuring deliveries get to recipients on time

• Returns detailed turn-by-turn delivery order sequence

• Returns routing results to integrate with telematics and navigation systems

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services speeds the planning process.

Every morning, your drivers may spend 30 minutes or more planning

the optimal route. That’s time sitting in the office instead of making

six to eight additional stops every day!

Create efficient routes. Faster.

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services creates better solutions, clustering routes into geographically compact, logical, and balanced workloads. It models the unique daily constraints of delivery routing and reflects the way drivers deliver their routes.

Other systems are not designed to build geographically compact and efficient routes. They create

unbalanced routes that put multiple crews on the same street – leading to inefficiency and wasted time.

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services is the most powerful and efficient optimization platform available today. No other route optimization platform can come close in speed, performance, and results.

“Routes are 14 times more compact than those of other routers...”

Integrate fast. Improve your route planning and execution.

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services leverages leading geospatial technologies from Esri and HERE. Its APIs (Application Programming Interface) integrate with your existing systems.

Your ERP, CIS, CRM, billing, and other familiar systems are not replaced, but enhanced. RouteSmart Web Services integrates with them to form a complete routing solution.

RouteSmart also complements your telematics and in-vehicle navigation systems. Most systems can help get from point A to point B, but they cannot plan the tens or hundreds of stops that a driver must make.

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services optimizes the full route over the street network. With the potential to cut travel distances by 10% or more per route, the savings can be significant.

RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services makes these systems smarter by making them more effective. And it takes seconds to perform what other route optimization solutions may take hours to do. RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services is the most powerful and efficient optimization platform available today. No other route optimization platform can come close in speed, performance, and results.

How RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services works.

1. You define the required types of routing needed from RouteSmart: Route creation, balancing, sequencing.

2. Routing requests are made via existing systems (e.g., billing or sorting systems, CRM, etc.).

3. Data is submitted via RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services’ secure APIs.

4. Account credentials are verified by RouteSmart; the routing process begins.

5. Geocoding is performed to accurately place service addresses on the map.

6. Route balancing and route sequencing are performed.

7. Data is updated with route and sequence information and reports are generated.

8. Web services alerts you that routing is complete via client polling with API or automatic postback options.

9. Data is returned via the APIs (route, sequence information, arrival times, turn-by-turn directions, route summary information) to your system.

10. Drivers get on the street faster to make efficient, on-time deliveries

Case study: National postal agency fulfills e-commerce delivery during holiday peak.

At the height of the 2014 holiday rush, one major national postal agency was faced with delivering millions of e-commerce packages, many of which had to be delivered on Sundays. In order to deliver, the agency used RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services to handle over 1.8 million addresses and create 25,000 optimized vehicle routes on its peak night.

This project presented a difficult new scenario to manage – dynamically changing routes on a new service day, with carriers who were new and unfamiliar with the route areas. The agency needed efficient routes with turn-by-turn instructions to help guide the carriers.RouteSmart Enterprise Web Services

quickly created the most efficient routes for the agency’s dynamically changing delivery routes.

The agency realized that routing was happening so quickly, they were able to perform routing later in the evening. This, in turn, allowed the e-tailer to take orders later, resulting in more orders being fulfilled faster. The postal agency was able to fulfill its daily dispatching of parcel delivery routes and Sunday e-commerce deliveries, securing a competitive edge during the year’s busiest season.
