Forlunately, almost all were running for the race; only Richard Checca failed to get going. As the start ofthe race approached, clouds were building, and it was clear there was rain around and close to the track. As threaten- ing as it looked, though, the race would stay dry. The pacecarbrought the field to the flag at an extremely slow pace, caused by a mis- communication from the tower. Allan Lewis (C-M E36 325i) was on the pole and got the jump on Mark Marquis (C-M E36 M3) at the start, with Peter Carroll in another E36 M3 following in third. The three stayed practically nose to tail for a couple oflaps until Canoll faded back when he realizedhe was short offuel and would need to run a conserrrative strategyin order to finish. In the middle of the race, Marquis fell back a little, but with lapped traffic working in his favor, he was able to make up the spaceand keep the pressureon Lewis all the way; in the end, Lewis won by a mere 0.341 seconds. In anotherclose finish farther back in the pack, JasonMicare (J-P E36 M3) finished 0.411 seconds behind fellow J-Prepared racer and class winner JonAdams in his E36 325is. The race ran caution-free, even though a couple of cars broke down. Isidore Papa- dopoulos (C-M E36 325is) had an air-flow sensor fail, but was able to pull far enough offthe track. Steve Menz (H-S E36 M3) blew a radiator hose and pulled his car behind a gap in the Armco, where he attempted repairs by hand. Jesse Clarke (J-PE36 M3) broke a valve lifter and was done for the weekend. The starting grid for Saturday'srace was determinedby anotherqualifying session. Lewis, Carroll win Calabogie racesFor the third time, BMW CCAClub Racing

visited Calabogie Motorsporls Park in Ontario,

but with a new schedule that included racing

all three days. Also, the variable weatherbeing

experienced in the area this year conspired to

throw some uncerlainty into the races.

Richard Checca failed to get going.

As the start ofthe race approached, clouds

were building, and it was clear there was rain

around and close to the track. As threaten-

ing as it looked, though, the race would stay

dry. The pace carbrought the field to the flag

at an extremely slow pace, caused by a mis-

communication from the tower. Allan Lewis(C-M E36 325i) was on the pole and got thejump on Mark Marquis (C-M E36 M3) at the

start, with Peter Carroll in another E36 M3

following in third. The three stayed practically nose to tail

Marquis fell back a little, but with lapped

traffic working in his favor, he was able to

make up the space and keep the pressure on

Lewis all the way; in the end, Lewis won by

a mere 0.341 seconds. In another close finish farther back in the

pack, Jason Micare (J-P E36 M3) finished

0.411 seconds behind fellow J-Prepared racer

and class winner JonAdams in his E36 325is.

The race ran caution-free, even though a

The starting grid for Saturday's race was

determined by another qualifying session.

Marquis started on the pole, with Lewis and

Carroll second and third. That was the order

a few isolated showers started to hit the pave-
