This edition focuses on the values of RA and we would like to take the chance to say thank you to all those wonderful schools, settings and people we have had the pleasure to work with this year. As you say goodbye to your leavers; pupil and staff we would like you to reflect on all the values that have been passed on from your setting to all those you have supported. Values shapes everything we do and are the basic building block of the restorative triangle. These value support the explicit teaching of skills to build and maintain relationships. Our think piece this time is from Elvis Presley. We can’t absolutely confirm that this quote came from the great man but it is attributed to him. We use this question on values as a checkin during our training. We can then build up a picture of the values reflected in a work place. This can be a great starting point in establishing or reviewing Restorative Approaches in your setting. The teaching of skills, building on the values of your settings can be done through your restorative circle work. This is a quote taken from Chris Straker; a leading light in the restorative world.

R.A.    Check-‐in        Summer  2    2019

 Dear  Colleagues,

Time  flies  and  this  is  our  last  check-‐in  for  the  18-‐19  academic  year.

We  use  this  question  on  values  as  a  check-‐in  during  our  training.

Thank you for our schools and settings:

BSS  would  like  to  acknowledge  the  inclusive  practice  at  St  George’s  Church  of  England  Primary  School.  The  team  consistently  go  above  and  beyond  to  meet  children’s  social,  mental  and  emotional  needs,

with  an  emphasis  on  identifying  underlying  drivers  for  behaviour  and  how  these  can  best  be  addressed.  School  has  a  flexible,  solution  focused  approach  and  works  in  a  collaborative  way  with  outside  agencies  taking  on  board  new  ideas  to  meet  needs.  This  flexibility  has  enabled  children  with  significant  challenges  to  remain  in  school  and  demonstrates  St  George’s  ethos  of  nurture  and  inclusivity.

Elaine  Robertson  BST

BSS  would  like  to  thank  the  team  at  Cheadle  Catholic  Infants  for  the  way  they  have  recently  embraced  Behaviour  Mentor  Support.  The  restorative  approach  the  staff  have  taken  in  implementing  advice,  has  led  to  the  successful  inclusion  of  a  complex  pupil  with  significant  social,  emotional  and  mental  health  needs.  The  fact  that  senior  leaders  have  acknowledged  the  short  term  nature  of

Behaviour  Mentor  Support  is  a  clear  reflection  of  the  ethos  and  values  of  the  school,  which  is  to  be  commended.

 Marie  France  BST

We  would  like  to  thank  our  team  of  very  skilled  Behaviour  Mentors:  Michelle,  Mandie,  Sam,  Natalie,  Chrissie  and  Laura.  We  couldn't  ask  for  a  better,  kinder,  more  inclusive  team.  I  am  sure  I  speak  not  just  for  BSS  but  for  many  schools  who  have  benefited  from  their  support.

Sarah  Chatterton

Sarah  Baggaley  would  like  to  pass  on  a  huge  thank  you  to  James  and  all  at  Dial  Park  for  allowing  the  RA  team  to  film  there  as  part  of  Dial  Park’s  Inclusion  Quality  Mark.  She  felt  it  was  a  very  special  day.  The  film  when  completed  will  be  used  as  part  of  our  RA  training  packages.
