Colocation

The data centre architecture at DC One is based on self-contained ‘pods’. Each pod can support shared or dedicated client services of between 20 to 50 equipment racks.

Raised access floors are installed within each pod supporting cable and pipework services presenting users with a clean, clutter free environment. Classic hot and cold aisle rack arrangements are deployed throughout. DC One is designed with excellent front and rear rack clearance for easy access and allowing for clear unrestricted airflow. The data centre pods provide a flexible and cost-effective alternative to the capitol expense of building your own corporate facility.

Private Data SuitesAs an alternative to building your own Data Centre, Workspace Technology offers Private Data Suites providing a customised space for larger client requirements.

Workspace Technology’s team will design and build Private Data Suites to exact specifications providing your organisation with high quality rack space in which to manage your IT operations.

Our Private Suite solution is typically based on our standard cabinet platform however individual client requirements can be accommodated.

It is our policy to ensure that your space conforms to the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Efficiency ‘Best Practices’ and TIA942 data centre design recommendations whilst implementing your own corporate standards and using your preferred service providers.

The Private Data Suite will enable you to avoid the significant capital expenditure incurred in building and owning your own facility. Typically suites will range from 20 to 50 racks with other options available by negotiation.

Shared Data SuitesOur Shared Data Suites offer the benefits of large scale resilience for medium sized IT space requirements.

These consolidated areas provide capacity and the option of enhanced security measures such as caging, card readers or additional cameras as part of a shared area. We can also provide dedicated power distribution boards should these be required.

24 x 365 Infrastructure Monitoring Proactive monitoring of all essential data centre infrastructure, including power, UPS systems, generator sets, cooling, fire suppression, environmental and security monitoring is implemented through the use of Schneider Electric’s industry leading StruxureWare Data Centre Expert. This product is combined with Schneider Electrics powerful Data Centre Infrastructure Management software suite, which forms the underlying management software tool in order to support all aspects of DC One data centre infrastructure, monitoring and management.

Our Technical Support team monitor and investigate alarm conditions as and when they occur, diagnosing, fixing where possible and arranging for site attendance when deemed appropriate by invoking the service contract SLA.

Planned Preventative Maintenance Scheduled maintenance and software/firmware upgrade services are carried out by competent and fully training engineers ensuring equipment is operating correctly to avoid unscheduled breakdowns and associated downtime. Equipment servicing is backed up with emergency call-out services to ensure attendance should any unforeseen problems occur.

DC One InfrastructureEnergy Efficient by DesignDesigned by Workspace Technology’s award winning Data Centre Solutions team DC One incorporates the very latest contemporary high performance data centre design. With the potential capacity to support up to 250 equipment racks with a total facility power of 2MVA the modular energy efficient design offers a cost effective alternative to the provision of in-house data centre infrastructure.

Low Energy Cooling & Airflow Arrangements Efficient cooling is key to delivering an energy efficient data centre. Our cooling is based on contemporary Denco technology configured with low energy variable speed fans.

With an annualised PUE of <1.25, DC One supports industry leading energy efficiency ratings.

By deploying Workspace Technology’s FlexAisle® aisle containment and airflow control systems, the mixing of hot and cold air is virtually eliminated.

In addition the configuration of Dynamic Cooling Control technology is specifically designed to ensure optimal performance is achieved from our cooling systems.

The data centre environment is configured to the latest ASHRAE recommendations providing constant inlet temperatures across the floor space of 25ºC.

High Performance Reliable Power Distribution Power availability is at the very core of maintaining a reliable service to our clients.

All of the technology we possess would be rendered ineffectual without a continuous and uninterrupted supply of power. With this in mind, we have designed our facilities to ensure power availability for your servers.

DC One is connected directly to the national grid via two 11kV connections, each fed from separate sub-stations for enhanced resilience.

Utility power is directly backed up by fuel efficient low emission generator systems configured with 48 hour fuel tanks. Workspace Technology has implemented a contemporary distributed power architecture. Avoiding old style ‘monolithic’ systems, our distributed architecture is based on a scalable and modular approach with multiple power zones, each supported by APC’s Symmetra PX ‘InRow’ highly efficient modular N+1 UPS systems. This design eliminates the need to separately cool battery rooms normally associated with legacy data centre designs.

Our panel boards are based on high quality Schneider Electric switchgear technology. All individual cabinets are supported by ‘dual A and B’ resilient power feeds.

DC One is supported with comprehensive energy management technology to enable precise and continuous measurement of power usage at all system levels.

Mission Critical Fire Detection & Suppression Fire detection and suppression systems are situated throughout our data floors and all procedures are designed to highlight and minimise any potential risk.

Our facilities utilise addressable fire detection systems with both ionisation and optical detectors in suites, ceiling voids and sub-floors. As an additional level of security we have also implemented Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) smoke detectors, which are able to detect smoke partials at a very early stage, allowing the best possible opportunity to detect problems before there is any chance of fire.

With our two stage alarm system, the final level of defence will be the deployment of our IG55 clean agent fire suppressant designed to extinguish fire in seconds and ensuring any risk to your data is negligible.

Equipment Racks & Technical Infrastructure DC One is configured with APC’s leading range of equipment racks designed to support a vendor-neutral solution.

These enclosures are designed to meet a range of applications including high density computing. With a strong focus on cooling, power distribution, cable management and environmental monitoring, the standard NetShelter enclosure provides a reliable rack-mounting environment for your mission-critical equipment.

Workspace Technology will supply the complete rack infrastructure combined with a range of APC intelligent or switched PDU rack access option, cable management and custom fibre and copper IT infrastructure to support your individual needs.
