Electric 

• Easier and more affordable to install

• More expensive to operate 

• Ideal for heating small areas

• Quick mats – comes ready to install with an adhesive foil backing

• $3 to $6 per sq. ft.

Hydronic 

• Pumps warm water through specially designed tubing laid under or within the floor

• Less expensive

• Good for large areas

• $10‐$12 per sq. ft.

Installation

• Heat cable

• Boiler or water heater

• Thermostat and temperature sensor

• Usually comes as quick mats Loose wire is cheapest

• Position the cable in a serpentine pattern

• Fasten with lots of hot glue or staples
