VEHICLE INTEGRATION SOLUTIONS

NBC RECCE VEHICLE Based on the GDELS-MOWAG Piranha IIIC 8x8 armoured vehicle, Thales provides a state of the art NBC suite. The overall system is user-friendly, autonomous and well adapted for critical missions.

The NBC reconnaissance system constitutes an advanced integrated solution, combining an automated NBC sensor suite with a NBC management system. The sensors have the capability to detect, localize and identify industrial and chemical warfare agents, nuclear radiation and biological contamination.

MISSION MODULEMobile reconnaissance and communication vehicles are an important means for military and peace-keeping operations and for border protection.

The Thales reconnaissance module for tactical vehicles includes a 10m telescopic mast capable of bearing payloads for different missions. The mast and the payload can be nested completely inside the vehicle. Thus the sensors are fully protected and the silhouette remains neutral. The cargo module is designed to be easily mounted with 4 bolts plus an electrical interface. This concept allows the efficient attachment of the suitable module according to the mission requirements.

RAP VEHICLE The RAP Vehicle enables mobile command with high bandwidth microwave radio links. The Swiss RAP vehicle (Radio Access Point tank) implements CNRI (Combat Network Radio Interface) with 5 simultaneous VHF channels. The installed switch bundles voice and data channels in two independent trunks. These trunks communicate over LOS (Line-of-Sight), covering a distance of up to 35 km.

The RAP equipment is installed in an armoured Piranha IIIC 8x8 with a high level of autonomy. The vehicle is equipped with an automatic remote controlled mast. The VHF CNRI antenna reaches a height of 15 m and both LOS systems reach a height of 10 m above ground. The overall system design guarantees a set-to-operation time after arrival of less than 10 minutes without the operators leaving the vehicle.

COMMUNICATION SHELTERThe Communication Shelter was realized in order to connect the tactical headquarters to the military network by means of line-of-sight.

Similar to the RAP vehicle, the Communication Shelter is equipped with an automatic mast, LOS-positioners, a remote controlled operator station and a sophisticated power management system.

A hybrid fiber optic cable enables the supply of power and data through one single cable.

IFASSThe multi-purpose transmitter is an important part of the integrated system for surveillance and radio transmission IFASS (Integriertes Funkaufklrungs- und Sendesystem).

With IFASS it is possible to explore radio communications in order to localize and to jam them if necessary. The system is jointly used by the air force and the command support troops and continually gives an up-to-date overview of the current military radio situation.
