Institute of Rail Transport provides Programmes in Rail Transport Management, Transport Economics and

Management and Multi Modal Transport and Logistics Management. The institute was established in 1964 andsince then has been successfully conducting programmes in the sector. Its programmes are recognised by

Distance Learning-IGNOU. The Institute aims at upbringing of the candidates with an equality sense andentrusting on them, about the Manner through which they would be responsible for upliftment of the society.

The institute has its headquarters in Delhi with branches at all nine zonal Railway Headquarters-Delhi, Calcutta,Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, Gorakhpur, Secunderabad and also Research Design and Standards Organisation atLucknow, Integral Coach Factory at Chennai, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works at Chittaranjan, Diesel Locomotive

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates should have a Diploma/Degree in any discipline. Those in their final year of the qualifying programme

can also apply. However these candidates have to provide the original copy of the Certificate of Merit to theconcerned authority as per the stipulated date. Candidates of both 10+2 as well as Under Graduate Diploma areeligible to apply for the course.

The diploma course is open to the final year students of diploma in engineering or those who have recentlycompleted their course with a minimum age requirement of 21 years. The aspirants must sit for the railwayrecruitment board (RRB) examination based on the marks of which students are admitted.

Course outlook

The course duration of diploma in rail transport & management is one year, Various railway recruitment boardhave granted it as a most desirable additional criteria for recruitment in various categories of posts in railway.The course contains main subjects which are transport economics, management concepts, material management,

operating management, commercial management.

Job prospects

Indian railway employs a major section of population if the figures are to be analyzed during 1950-51, it employed

The forms will be available from the main headquarters in Delhi and all the branches. The form can also be

obtained by post from IRT-Delhi by sending a Demand Draft along with the request for form. The candidates haveto specifically place a specimen of their signature at the back side of the Demand Draft. This has to be also donein with the requisite letter.
